  • Publication number: 20060139558
Abstract: A liquid crystal panel (100) includes a first and a second substrates (110, 120), a liquid crystal layer (130) disposed between the first and second substrates, and a sealant (140) disposed at a peripheral region between the first and second substrates for sealing liquid crystal molecules between the first and second substrates. A baffle-wall (150) is disposed inside the sealant at a peripheral portion of the second substrate. The baffle-wall, the sealant and the first and second substrates cooperatively define at least one retaining space (160) therebetween. The baffle-wall and the first substrate cooperatively define at least one channel (170) therebetween, the channel communicating between the liquid crystal layer and the retaining space. During manufacturing, the baffle-wall helps prevent air bubbles from returning to the liquid crystal layer. Thus the liquid crystal panel has a high display quality.

  • Publication number: 20060007383
Abstract: A LCD panel (200) includes a first substrate (201) and a second substrate (202) opposite to each other, a liquid crystal layer interposed between the first and second substrates, a sealant (216) disposed between the first and second substrates and surrounding the liquid crystal layer, a plurality of gate lines (208) and data lines (209) perpendicularly formed on the first substrate. Each gate line and each data line define a plurality of overlapping areas overlapped by the sealant. Each overlapping area has at least an opening. In the LCD panel, each gate lines and each data lines have a plurality of openings on the overlapping areas. Thus, ultraviolet light would completely cure the sealant. That is the LCD panel has a high quality display effect.

  • Publication number: 20050134780
Abstract: An LCD device (2) includes two substrates (21, 22), a liquid crystal layer (27) therebetween, and gate lines (24) and data lines (23) formed on one of the substrates thereby defining pixel regions. A set of pixel electrodes (26) and a set of common electrodes (25) are provided in each pixel region. The pixel and common electrodes are shaped as hollow rectangles, and are alternately nested one within the other. When a voltage is applied, a horizontal electric field in two different directions (281, 282) is established. Liquid crystal molecules of the liquid crystal layer are twisted according to the two directions, thereby reducing color shift.

  • Publication number: 20050134579
Abstract: The present invention provides a display system (200) for wirelessly driving display devices. In one embodiment, the display system includes a signal processing unit (210), an interface unit (220) having a control unit (222), a first antenna (201), a second antenna (202) and a display device (230). In contrast to a conventional wirelessly driven display system, the control unit of the present invention is integrated into the interface unit. By doing so, the display area of the display device may be enlarged. Furthermore, the display system may also allow two-way communication between the display device and the signal processing unit by incorporating an input signal detector.

Abstract: An LCD device (2) includes two substrates (21, 22), a liquid crystal layer (27) therebetween, and gate lines (24) and data lines (23) formed on one substrate thereby defining pixel regions. A set of pixel electrodes (26) and a set of common electrodes (25) are provided in each pixel region. A first subset of the pixel electrodes and a first subset of the common electrodes are disposed parallel to each other in alternating fashion and extend along a first horizontal axis, a second subset of the pixel electrodes and a second subset of the common electrodes are disposed parallel to each other in alternating fashion and extend along a second horizontal axis, and the first and second axes are inclined at respective angles relative to the data lines. Thus when voltage is applied, liquid crystal molecules are twisted in two different directions (281, 282) so as to reduce color shift.

  • Publication number: 20040223108
Abstract: A liquid crystal display device (300) includes a first substrate (35), a color filter (38) having a black frame (39), a sealing member (34) and a second substrate (33). The first substrate combines with the second substrate to form a cavity. The color filter is attached on an inner surface of the first substrate. The black frame has a patterned design and is arranged along an outer periphery of the color filter. The sealing member is formed on an area of the black frame, located on the black frame. The sealing member attaches the first and the second substrates together.

  • Publication number: 20040218130
Abstract: An LCD device (2) includes a pair of substrates (21, 22), a liquid crystal layer (27) contained between the pair of substrates, and a plurality of pixel and common electrodes (25, 26) formed on the pair of substrates, respectively. In which, each pixel electrode and common electrode defining at least a first portion (251, 261) and a second portion (252, 262), respectively. The first portions of the pixel and common electrodes are alternately arranged parallel to a first direction, and the second portions of the pixel and common electrodes are arranged parallel to a second direction essential perpendicular to the first direction. Liquid crystal molecules in the LCD device are twisted in two different directions so as to reduce the color shift.

  • Publication number: 20040196426
Abstract: The present invention provides an in-plane switching liquid crystal display (IPS-LCD) device that includes a substrate, a protrusive layer having many protrusions on the substrate and a transparent electrode on each of the protrusions. One may dispose a color filter on the protrusions and fill in liquid crystal material between the color filter and the substrate. In contrast to conventional IPS-LCD devices, the IPS-LCD device of the present invention does not require the use of spacers. The present invention may thus largely enhance the light penetration rate and simplify the manufacturing process.

  • Publication number: 20040196425
Abstract: An IPS (in-plane switching) liquid crystal display has a color filter substrate (3), a TFT (thin film transistor) substrate (8), and a liquid crystal layer (7) interposed therebetween. The TFT substrate includes a TFT plate (5), a protrusion layer (6), and an electrode matrix. The electrode matrix includes a plurality of transversely disposed gate lines (22), a plurality of longitudinally disposed data lines (21), switching elements, a plurality of common electrodes (27), and a plurality of pixel electrodes (28). The protrusion layer has a plurality of protrusion portions (61). The common and pixel electrodes are formed on the protrusion portions in one-to-one correspondence to provide an array of protrusive electrodes that generate a strong and highly uniform parallel electric field. This provides better picture quality, and can lower power consumption and/or yield a higher aperture ratio.

  • Publication number: 20040189920
Abstract: An IPS (in-plane switching) liquid crystal display (2) has a first substrate (23), a second substrate (24) opposite to the first substrate, a liquid crystal layer disposed between the two substrates, a plurality of common electrodes (25) and pixel electrodes (26) disposed on the second substrate, and a plurality of spacers (29) disposed on the common electrodes and the pixel electrodes. The spacers are electrically conductive. The liquid crystal layer, together with the electric field generators comprising the electrodes and the spacers connected with them, cooperatively form a “functionally unified” configuration. Accordingly, liquid crystal molecules (27) in the liquid crystal layer are in a strong electric field having a highly uniform direction. The strong electric field enables the IPS type liquid crystal display to operate on a lower driving voltage, and/or to provide more space between the electrodes to yield a higher aperture ratio.
