    Abstract: A transmission arrangement for use in a customer premises communication system is operable for controlling transmission during the MF digit signaling interval in situations where it is necessary to convert station dialed MF signals to pulsed digit signaling. In systems where the signaling station, the MF to dial pulse converter and the Central Office or PBX line are bridged on the same communication link it is possible for the station's MF signals to be detected by the MF receiver in the Central Office, thereby causing errors in the received digits. These problems are eliminated by inserting two transmission gates in the four-wire portion of the CO line. The gates are controlled by the processor in the customer premises communication system such that the outward gate is opened immediately upon seizure of the line by the calling station and remains open during the entire dialing interval.

    Abstract: One example of problems encountered in electronic telephone systems occurs when calling party identification (CPI) is used with call coverage. With CPI a lamp field is used to provide a called station (S2) with the identity of the calling station (S1). With call coverage an incoming call of a called station is rerouted to a coverage button (210B) of some other station (S3). The coverage station is informed as to the identity of the original called station, as opposed to the identity of the calling party, by an arrangement which modifies the lamp field (214) indication on calls directed to the call coverage button (210B). Thus, when the call coverage button (210B) is in the active ringing state the lamp (215) on the display field associated with the original called station (S2) flashes. However, when calls are incoming directly to the station (S3) the lamp field (214) is used to provide a visual indication of the calling station (S1).

    Abstract: A small program controlled communication system is disclosed having user changeable feature and line selection control. Associated with each station is a set of switches which are used to associate the various central office lines with the available nonlocking station pickup keys. The user, by setting the switches, can establish any line as a prime line and may select which other lines appear at the station. The setting of the switches also controls various other features available to the station, such as common audible, and privacy. The system is arranged such that the processor interrogates the switches periodically and translates the setting of the switches, which are human factors coded, into machine control codes which are stored in the main memory.

    Abstract: A communication conferencing arrangement is disclosed which relies upon the use of a plus/minus (+/-) nonlocking button followed by the operation of a button associated with any other line appearing at the station. If the operated line button is associated with a currently active line that line will be removed from the conference. If, however, the operated button is associated with a nonactive line (held or idle) then that line will be added, in conference fashion, with the communication leads of the enabling station. Provision is made to allow any number of added connections up to a preset maximum number at any station.

    Abstract: Call coverage problems are solved in a telephone communication system by arranging the system on a station orientation basis so that any call directed to a station on any line appearance at that station will be covered by a single button on any one of a number of other coverage station sets. Any other station may also have its calls directed to that same coverage station set and, if desired, to the same call coverage button on the covering set. By separating ringing signals and flashing signals and by handling each on a station basis, it is possible to allow both ringing and visual signals of the call if covered by one station, whereas if call coverage is handled by another station it can be arranged so that only visual signals will be provided.
