  • Patent number: 5857580
Abstract: A closure for a beverage bottle includes a plug element having a disk shaped head portion and a hollow cylindrical portion which seals with the inner surface of the opening of the bottle. An annular projection is formed around the circumference of the bottle 12 near its mouth. The closure further includes a cap element which fits over the plug element and which includes with a skirt having an annular recess which locks onto the annular projection of the bottle. A first precut line is provided in the cap, extending around its circumference and a second precut line portion extends from the distal edge of the skirt to the first precut line across the annular recess. • Patent number: 5428980
Abstract: A cap to be fitted around a neck portion of a drink bottle is produced from a cap blank by employing a spinning process. First, the cap blank is fitted around the distal end of a movable guide arranged surrounding a die shaft serving as a spinning mandrel, and thereafter, a spinning operation is performed for the cap member by two rollers adapted to successively come in contact with the cap member. One of the rollers is a rough spinning roller and the other one is a finishing roller which serves to glaze the surface of the cap member. The rollers are positioned offset from each other, not only in the axial direction, but also in the circumferential direction. While the die cap is firmly held between the die shaft and a pressing member of a pressing unit, the die shaft is rotated, causing the cap member and both the rollers to be rotated by the die shaft.

  • Patent number: 5307943
Abstract: An annular groove is formed around the top of a wine bottle having a pouring port formed at the foremost end thereof so as to allow a liquid contained therein to be poured through the pouring port. Specifically, the annular groove is formed around the boundary corner between a flange and a head portion of the top. Alternatively, the annular groove may be formed around the boundary corner between the flange and a neck portion. Otherwise, the annular groove may be formed around the outer surface of the flange. It is preferable that the annular groove has a V-shaped sectional contour. Alternatively, the annular groove may have a U-shaped sectional contour. Otherwise, the annular groove may have a square or rectangular sectional contour. It is preferable that depth D of the annular groove be within the range of 0<D<0.6 mm, and width B of the same be within the range of 0.3 mm.ltoreq.B.ltoreq.0.6 mm.
