  • Patent number: 6123403
Abstract: A facsimile apparatus is equipped with an ink jet printer in which the recording head is inspected for ink discharge failure in response to a call signal, then a head recovery process is effected in case of discharge failure, and the normal data reception process is started after the discharge failure is rectified. If the discharge failure is not rectified after repeated recovery processes, the communication is interrupted, so that wasted communication resulting from malfunction of the recording head can be avoided.

  • Patent number: 5867563
Abstract: A location display apparatus has a display section for displaying a location and voice-synthesizes the location in response to a DTMF signal received from a circuit so as to transmit a corresponding message to the circuit. Moreover, in accordance with received DTMF signals, a power source of the apparatus is controlled, the message is transferred, and the displayed location is changed.

  • Patent number: 5585854
Abstract: A data communication apparatus for conducting relaying multi-address transmission comprises a detector for detecting the occurrence of a non-delivery status in which data is not transmitted to a relay station or a relay destination station, and a control unit for sending the data directly to the relay destination station without routing the relay station when the non-delivery status is detected by the detector.

  • Patent number: 5485286
Abstract: An image communication apparatus, for recording an image using a recording head for ejecting an ink from an ejection port by utilizing energy generated by an ejection energy generation element, includes a communication section for communication a procedure signal associated with a communication and image data, a driving section for driving the recording head in accordance with the image data received by the communication section, a preservation section for performing preservation processing of the recording head, and a control section for discriminating a procedure signal transmitted after the image data, and controlling an operation of the preservation section on the basis of the discrimination result. When the control section discriminates that a specific procedure signal for successively performing reception is transmitted, it causes the preservation section to execute the preservation processing.
