Abstract: The image display apparatus includes: a switch unit which receives a user control input; an advertisement storage for storing a first advertisement which is to be displayed upon receiving the user control input, and previously storing a second advertisement which is to be displayed at a next power-up of the image display apparatus and a third advertisement which is to be displayed upon receiving the user control input after the next power-up; an advertisement player which causes the first advertisement to be displayed on a screen upon receiving the user control input and causes the second advertisement to be displayed on the screen upon powering up the image display apparatus; and an advertisement manager which updates the first advertisement with the third advertisement upon powering up the image display apparatus.

Abstract: A digital broadcast receiver includes an operation mode manager that switches an operation mode to a first mode in which a function is implemented by the downloaded application or a second mode in which a function is implemented by the pre-installed application, and a key delivery module that delivers the key code received from the remote control to the downloaded application or the pre-installed application. When the receiver is in the first mode, the key delivery module delivers the received key code to the downloaded application if the received key code is a key code for the first mode, and delivers the received key code to the pre-installed application if the received key code is a key code for the second mode. When the receiver is in the second mode, the key delivery module delivers the received key code to the pre-installed application.

Abstract: In a power-on operation of a receiving device that receives digital broadcasting, when PIN information for setting a parental control function of a download application obtained via a network is set, a video output is turned to an off state during a time period before a download application is received from the power-on until a predetermined time elapses, a download application is executed when the download application is received during the time period from the power-on until the predetermined time elapses, and the setting of the PIN information is cancelled when a download application is not received during the time period from the power-on until the predetermined time elapses.

Abstract: The display information generating unit manages a first plane that contains video information and a second plane that contains first still information and second still information, and merges the first plane and second plane. The control unit adds at least one of the first still information and second still information to the second plane when an interrupt signal is generated. If the display area of the video information is the full display area of the display screen, the control unit starts a screen saver operation that changes the first still information after a first predetermined period from a time point of the interrupt signal. If the display area of the video information is smaller than the full display area of the display screen, the control unit starts a screen saver operation that changes the second still information after a second predetermined period from a time point of the interrupt signal.

Abstract: There is provided a digital broadcast receiver for solving various problems regarding a display which arise due to the switching of a mode. For example, there is provided a digital broadcast receiver capable of displaying an emergency alert broadcast by an EAS even when a mode is switched from an OCAP mode to an external input mode. The receiver has a plane management unit for managing a receiver only plane and a download application plane. The receiver prohibits the emergency alert broadcast from being displayed in the receiver only plane when, under an OCAP mode, a download application takes away an EAS function of the receiver, and then permits the emergency alert broadcast to be displayed in the receiver only plane when the mode is switched from the OCAP mode to an external input mode.

Abstract: There is provided a cable broadcast receiver for solving problems arising in the switching between execution of a download application and reproduction of video audio information from an external device. The receiver has operating modes including a first mode and a second mode. Under the first mode, the receiver is operated based on a download application acquired through a network. Under the second mode, the receiver is operated based on a receiver application. The receiver is operated under the second mode when information inputted from an external device is to be displayed. A key delivery unit delivers, upon receiving a key code instructing a channel change during the operation under the second mode, the key code indicating the channel change to a download application management unit which controls the key delivery to the download application, and a receiver application management unit which controls the key delivery to the receiver application.
