  • Patent number: 4563265
Abstract: A catalyst used for liquefaction of coal and hydrogenolysis or hydrodesulfurization of heavy oils. The catalyst is prepared by reacting one or more compounds selected from the group consisting of carbonyl compounds of molybdenum, salts of molybdenum, oxides of molybdenum, metallic molybdenum, and alloys containing molybdenum, with alkali and water at a temperature ranging from 220.degree. to 450.degree. C. under a carbon monoxide atmosphere; and reducing the product obtained at temperature ranging from 400.degree. to 450.degree. C. under a hydrogen atmosphere.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 12, 1984
Date of Patent: January 7, 1986
    Assignee: Toshitaka Ueda
    Inventors: Tsuneo Yoshii, Toshitaka Ueda

  • Patent number: 4435522
Abstract: A method of producing a catalyst for liquefaction of coal comprises heat-treating a salt or oxide of molybdenum or an alloy steel containing at least 0.3 weight percent of molybdenum in the presence of an alkali and water in a carbon monoxide atmosphere at a temperature of 220.degree. to 450.degree. C., and after water rinse and drying, reducing the same in the presence of tetralin and/or a phenol compound in a hydrogen atmosphere at a temperature of 400.degree. to 450.degree. C.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 21, 1982
Date of Patent: March 6, 1984
Inventors: Tsuneo Yoshii, Toshitaka Ueda, Tsukasa Kuroda
