  • Patent number: 4781941
Abstract: A method of matting a pre-sensitized printing plate is disclosed. The method is comprised of electrostatically providing fine droplets of an aqueous liquid with a resin dissolved or dispersed therein on the obverse surface or reverse surface of the pre-sensitized printing plate and, thereafter, drying the fine droplets. The method is characterized in that before and/or after the attachment of the droplets the surface of the pre-sensitized printing plate is wet. The method can be continuously performed and provides a matted surface with protuberances firmly adhered to a substrate.

  • Patent number: 4597533
Abstract: An electrostatic spraying apparatus charges particles of a coating material to be emitted and sprays the same such that they become attracted to and deposited on a travelling web substrate. Electrode plates serve to repel the charged particles to thereby even the distribution of particles deposited on the web. An air flow may be used to additionally guide the particles or prevent them from adhering to the electrode plates.

  • Patent number: 4502933
Abstract: A method and apparatus for electrolytic treatment to a metal web includes transporting the metal web between pairs of electrolytic-plates which are immersed in an electrolyzer. A plurality of insulating members extends from upper surface or bottom of the electrolyzer along a widthwise direction of the metal web, and the insulating members function to interrupt a flow of the electrolyte which is circulated in the electrolyzer which increases the agitation rate of the electrolyte in the vicinity of the surfaces of the metal web.

  • Patent number: 4390407
Abstract: An electrolytic processing device in which either or both surfaces of a belt-shaped metal plate can be selectively subjected to an electrolytic process. In a first electrolytic processing operation wherein only one surface of the belt-shaped metal plate is subjected to processing, an electrical insulating member is disposed between the belt-shaped metal plate and a first group of electrodes arranged over the surface of the belt-shaped metal plate to thereby suppress the flow of current between the belt-shaped metal plate and the first group of electrodes. In a second electrolytic processing operation in which both surfaces of the belt-shaped metal plate are subjected to processing, the electrical insulating member is removed from the position between the electrodes and the belt-shaped metal plate to thereby allow current to flow from the electrodes to both surfaces of the belt-shaped metal plate.
