  • Patent number: 5131815
Abstract: The known rotor blade for use with axial-flow machines is improved. The improvement resides in a novel configuration of the blade body of the rotor blade. A leading edge of a tip end portion of the blade body is inclined forward (in the upstream direction of flow) and also advances in a direction of rotation, towards a tip end surface of the blade body. In the tip end portion between the tip end surface and a cross section displaced from the tip end surface towards the central portion of the blade body by 1/2 of a chord length of the tip end surface, the configuration of the leading edge of the tip end portion is such that an angle S of skew thereof over which the leading edge of the tip end portion advances in the direction of rotation and an effective skew amount .THETA..sub.s eff thereof of the angle over which the leading edge of the tip end portion is inclined forward in the upstream direction falls in a particular region in a graph of S vs. .THETA..sub.

  • Patent number: 4756665
Abstract: In a centrifugal compressor of the type that has a head chamber in which various auxiliary passageways are provided that is mounted to a main chamber containing an impeller therein, an annular body is mounted to a free end of the head chamber via seal means, passageways which communicate with respective ones of the various auxiliary passageways are provided within the annular body, and external piping communicating with the respective passageways are fixedly secured to an outer circumferential portion of the annular body.

  • Patent number: 4715778
Abstract: A centrifugal compressor of the type in which disassembly and assembly of the compressor is effected by taking out and inserting internal component parts including end walls for closing ends of a cylindrical rotor chamber wall from and into a cylindrical rotor chamber in the axial direction thereof, including intake chamber side communication holes communicating with an intake chamber formed within the cylindrical rotor chamber and a propelling force balance chamber side communication hole communicating with a propelling force balance chamber formed within the cylindrical rotor chamber. The intake chamber side communication holes are formed in the internal component part and in the cylindrical rotor chamber wall, respectively.

  • Patent number: 4708587
Abstract: A centrifugal compressor includes an impeller of a make-up (compressing) pump stage, a first balancing ring for generating axial thrust on an impellar shaft for balancing the axial thrust generated by the make-up pump stage, an impeller of a recycle stage and a second balancing ring disposed between the make-up pump stage and the recycle stage. The impellers and balancing rings are fixedly mounted on the same impellar shaft in a common casing. The diameters of the first and second balancing ring and a liner ring disposed at a suction side of the impeller of the recycle stage are substantially identical with each other.

  • Patent number: 4706969
Abstract: A device for sealing the shaft of a turbo machine in which there are disposed a shaft sealing side plate attached to a casing, an atmospheric side floating ring and an in-machine side floating ring arranged in a seal case and associated with the shaft with the interposition of a small space, the atmospheric side floating ring having an atmospheric side end surface in contact with the shaft sealing side plate, the in-machine side floating ring having an in-machine side end surface in contact with the seal case; the device being characterized in that a flexible ring which is deformable in compliance with the deformation of the atmospheric side floating ring during driving is interposed between the atmospheric side floating ring and the shaft sealing side plate, whereby an excessive load is not applied between each white metal of both the floating rings and a seal sleeve, hardening and scalling loss of the white metal are prevented, and the reliability of sealing in the turbo machine is improved.

  • Patent number: 4697987
Abstract: An improved rotary machine such as centrifugal type compressor adapted to rotate under high load of the type including a plurality of impellers fixedly mounted (shrinkage-fit) on a main shaft. To effectively inhibit the rotor from vibrating due to loosened fitting of the impellers onto the main shaft the improvement consists of each of the impellers being provided with a sleeve portion which is made integral with the impeller. The sleeve portion is located at a position removed from the main part of the impeller along the axial direction of the main shaft with the position being determined in accordance with the theory of strength of materials in such a manner that displacement of the impeller in the radial direction due to centrifugal force resulting from rotation of the rotary machine has no effect on determination of the position of the sleeve portion, wherein the sleeve portion is shrink fit onto the main shaft of the impellers.
