Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for updating an image file that is performed by a server, when a workable image file pre-stored in a storage unit of said server needs to be updated by a new image file, that duplicates said workable image file to said storage unit as a backup image file, and then restarts said serve by invoking the operating system with said new image file, and if an operating system can not be successfully invoked with said new image file, said server automatically selects said backup image file to invoke the operating system and restore to the status before said update.

Abstract: A performance evaluation device and a performance evaluation method to evaluate at least one under-test module in a ROM of an electronic device are provided. The performance evaluation device comprises a time stamp counter, a measuring module, a recording module and a calculating module. The time stamp counter increments every time period to generate a time-stamp-number. The measuring module measures a unit-time time-stamp-number during a unit time to further calculates the time period. The recording module records a begin time-stamp-number when the at least one under-test module begins the operation and a finish time-stamp-number when the at least one under-test module finishes the operation. And the calculating module calculates an operation time data according to a difference between the begin time-stamp-number and the finish time-stamp-number and the time period.

Abstract: An IP address updating system and related method is applied to a network server having a management controller for the management controller to update IP installation information. The system includes an acquiring module, a comparing module and an updating module. The method first detects MACs of NICs attached to the network server and LAN channels of the management controller, and then compares the MACs of the NICs with the MACs of the LAN channels. When a MAC of one of the NICs is matched with a MAC of one of the LAN channels, installation fields of the matched LAN channel are updated with IP installation information of the matched NIC. Therefore, a system manager needs not to update the IP address time after time any more, and the network server has better efficiency of management.

Abstract: An automatically setting method and related system for a network communications system having a remote console is disclosed. The method provides a network serving equipment having a management controller, and connects a network serving equipment through the network communications system to the remote console. The method sets the network serving equipment in a PXE mode, and sends request instructions to request IP address to the remote console after the network serving equipment is actuated, to acquire corresponding IP address. The network serving equipment sends IP request instructions to the remote console to request corresponding network parameter setting program. Then the network serving equipment executes the network parameter setting program instruction, and sets IP address parameters of the management controller according to the acquired IP address accordingly.

Abstract: A heat dissipation method is described. A fan module is provided to circulate airflows towards a heat-generating source within a fan speed range. A current temperature of the heat-generating source is measured, wherein the current temperature varies within a temperature range including a lowest critical temperature. The temperature range is divided into a plurality of unique temperatures. The fan speed range is divided into a plurality of unique fan speeds. Each unique fan speed is initially assigned, from low to high, to each unique temperature, from low to high. When the current temperature is lower than the lowest critical temperature, the fan module is driven to rotate at the unique fan speed initially assigned to the current temperature. When the current temperature is higher than the lowest critical temperature, a desired fan speed is dynamically assigned to the current temperature based on a specific mechanism.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for updating an image file that is performed by a server, when a workable image file pre-stored in a storage unit of said server needs to be updated by a new image file, that duplicates said workable image file to said storage unit as a backup image file, and then restarts said serve by invoking the operating system with said new image file, and if an operating system can not be successfully invoked with said new image file, said server automatically selects said backup image file to invoke the operating system and restore to the status before said update.

Abstract: An apparatus and a method for computer management are provided. In the present invention, the baseboard management controllers (BMCs) of a plurality of baseboards are connected through a network. A broadcasting packet is sent to each BMC by switching a virtual local area network (VLAN) so as to obtain a default Internet protocol address (IP address) and a media access control address (MAC address) of each BMC and reset the IP addresses of the BMCs with particular IP addresses. Therefore, in a subsequent management function, a control instruction can be sent to each BMC directly for controlling the BMCs to execute particular functions.

Abstract: A data transmission system applicable to an electronic device with server units is provided. The electronic device also has a management unit for managing the server units, and the management unit includes a transmission interface for transmitting data to a monitoring mainframe. Each of the server units and the management unit has a controller. Management buses electrically connect the controllers of the server units with the controller of the management unit. Switching units are disposed in the server units and are able to be switched on by the controllers of the server units and establish a direct link between data storage areas of the server units and the transmission interface of the management unit without the need for the management bus.

Abstract: A system and method for chassis management is proposed. The chassis management system includes at least one server unit, a first control unit, a second control unit, and a system management bus. The system management bus connects the first control unit and the second control unit to the server unit, so as to enable the first control unit and the second control unit to manage operating conditions of the server unit. One of the first control unit and the second control unit sends a request to search for a master controller. If, within a predetermined period of time the system management bus fails to indicate a master controller address on the system management bus in response to the request, then one of the first control unit and the second control unit is configured to function as the master controller, conversely one of the first control unit and the second control unit is configured to function as the slave controller.

Abstract: A master chassis automatic selection system and the method thereof, wherein one of a plurality of chassis connected to an Intelligent Chassis Management Bus is dynamically selected as a master chassis, to enable the dominant master chassis to control the other chassis connected to the Intelligent Chassis Management Bus, and one of the chassis connected to the Intelligent Chassis Management Bus is selected as a master chassis in the light of the priority given to the Intelligent Chassis Management Bus Addresses of individual chassis. Hence, the present invention has advantages of dynamic selection of a master chassis, acquiring status messages about the other slave chassis by means of the selected master chassis, real-time efficient monitoring of the other slave chassis by users through the master chassis, reduction in monitoring time, and enhancement of work efficiency.
