  • Patent number: 4351936
Abstract: The present invention provides a process for producing a saturated polyester having a reduced terminal carboxyl group content, which comprises reacting a carboxyl-terminated, substantially linear, fiber-forming saturated polyester with a monocyclic imino ether compound of the formula ##STR1## wherein R is a group of the following formula ##STR2## in which R.sup.1 is a hydrogen atom or a monovalent organic group non-reactive with the saturated polyester under the reaction conditions, R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 are a monovalent organic group non-reactive with the saturated polyester under the reaction conditions, and R.sup.1 and R.sup.

  • Patent number: 4292151
Abstract: A process for preparing a cured copolyetherester elastomeric composition comprising following steps I and II:Step I: melt-extruding an uncured linear copolyetherester elastomeric composition of [A] and [B] to follow:[A] a linear copolyetherester elastomer composed of(A-1) a hard segment consisting of(i) an acid component of which at least 70 mol % is an aromatic dicarboxylic acid and(ii) a diol component having an average molecular weight of up to 350 and(A-2) a soft segment consisting of(iii) a polyalkylene glycol having an average molecular weight of from 500 to 5,000 in an amount of from 10 to 80% by weight based on the elastomer [A]; and[B] a compound having an unsaturated aliphatic moiety other than unsaturated conjugated moieties, said compound [B] being copolymerized or blended with said elastomer [A], wherein said unsaturated aliphatic moiety is chemically inert at the melt-extruding temperature, the amount of said moiety being 0.001 to 0.

  • Patent number: 4269947
Abstract: A cured or uncured linear aromatic polyester composition melt-blended and composed of(A) 100 parts by weight of a saturated linear aromatic polyester in which at least 70 mole % of the acid component consists of an aromatic dicarboxylic acid, and(B) 0.1 to 50 parts by weight of a reactive compound which is solid at room temperature or is a liquid having a boiling point of at least 200.degree. C. under atmospheric pressure, and which contains in its molecule at least one aliphatic unsaturated group substantially non-reactive with the polyester (A) and the aliphatic unsaturated group of the reactive compound (B) under conditions of melt-blending with the polyester (A) and at least one epoxy group reactive with the polyester (A) under the melt-blending conditions. The cured linear aromatic polyester composition can be prepared by extruding the uncured linear aromatic polyester composition under melting conditions, and subjecting the resulting extrudate to a curing treatment.

  • Patent number: 4107143
Abstract: The present invention provides a substantially linear aromatic polyester carbonate consisting essentially of hydroxybenzoic acid unit, hydroquinone unit, and carbonate unit as well as, depending on the circumstances, aromatic carboxylic acid unit, and having an inherent viscosity of at least 0.5. The present invention also provides an industrially advantageous method for producing such linear aromatic polyester carbonate through the process steps of melt-polycondensation, and, if necessary, followed by a further polycondensation in solid phase.Such aromatic polyester carbonate which the present invention provides exhibits excellent melt-forming property and melt anisotropy, hence any shaped article obtained by melt-forming of this aromatic polyester carbonate exhibits superior mechanical properties, in particular, excellent Young's modulus of longitudinal elasticity, and so on, which is highly useful as the material for industrial applications.
