  • Patent number: 5630668
Abstract: A rolling bearing includes an outer raceway, an inner raceway, a plurality of rolling elements interposed between the outer raceway and the inner raceway, and a cage for holding the rolling elements away from each other at the same interval in a rolling direction of the rolling elements, the cage including a first layer subjected to a surface treatment of at least one of carbonitriding, phosphating, sulfonitriding and gas soft nitfriding, and a second layer formed of at least one of PTFE, MoS.sub.2, WS.sub.2, Ag and Sn when the first layer includes a treated surface subjected to the surface treatment of phosphating. The rolling bearing can stabilize the attitude of the rolling elements and retain the ease of grinding them. At the same time, the dynamic torque of the rolling elements can be minimized while insuring to prevent the rolling elements from falling away from the cage.

  • Patent number: 5619238
Abstract: A method of making a replaceable ink cartridge uses a molded, one-piece container body with an open bottom, elongated front, back and top walls, two side walls providing major surfaces of the cartridge, and a partition attached to the side walls and extending from the top wall toward the open bottom to divide the container body into first and second compartments. A sponge-like absorbent material is inserted into the second compartment through the open bottom, which is then sealed with a bottom wall, so that the cartridge has first and second chambers communicating with each other through an opening formed by a gap between the partition and the bottom wall.

  • Patent number: 5556348
Abstract: A toroidal-type continuously variable transmission provides an input side disk disposed on an input shaft, an output side disk disposed on an output shaft, and a power roller for transmitting motive power of the input shaft to the output shaft while engaging both the input side disk and the output side disk, in which the input side disk, the output side disk, and the power roller made of a material are subjected to either a carburizing and grinding process or to a carbonitriding and grinding process so that effective carburized depths of the input side disk, the output side disk, and the power roller are limited to a range between 2.0 mm and 4.0 mm. The toroidal-type continuously variable transmission is capable of improving not only the rolling contact lives of the traction surfaces of the input and output side disks as well as the traction surfaces of the power rollers, but also the fatigue fracture lives of the input and output side disks and power rollers.

  • Patent number: 5547432
Abstract: In order to prevent strong bending stress given to outer rings of thrust ball bearings of power roller assemblies and to improve the durability of the outer rings, a toroidal-type continuously variable transmission has thrust needle bearings which absorb thrust load given to the outer rings as well as allow the outer rings and corresponding trunnions to be shifted from each other. Preferably, the entire circumference of the pitch circle of the balls of each thrust ball bearing overlaps with a load-absorbing region, which is one or more annular and/or arcuate regions having the same width as the needles of needle bearings radially arranged in said regions in order to absorb thrust load.
