Patent number: 5871441Abstract: An endoscope has a channel switching device for use in switching over a suction channel. The channel switching device consists broadly of a cylinder unit and valve unit. The valve unit can be disassembled into three component parts; a button assembly, piston assembly, and mount assembly. The button assembly has a cap, which is made of a rigid resin such as polyether ketone (PEEK) or polysulfone (PSU), as the uppermost part thereof. Since the cap is made of a rigid resin durable to autoclaving; such as, PSU or PEEK, the valve unit will not be damaged due to autoclaving. Even when the autoclaved valve unit is put to use though it is not yet cooled down, an operator will not perceive heat very much but can manipulate the endoscope as he/she intends.Type: GrantFiled: December 22, 1995Date of Patent: February 16, 1999Assignee: Olympus Optical Co., Ltd.Inventors: Tsutomu Ishiguro, Masaaki Nakazawa, Hisao Yabe, Hideo Ito

Patent number: 5860913Abstract: In an endoscope of the present invention, while a cover indicator on a distal cover is aligned with a scope indicator on a main distal part, the distal cover is put on the main distal part in an axial direction at a certain insertion angle. Thereafter, the distal cover is rotated while being thrust in the axial direction. The stoppage of a locking convex part of a hook of the main distal part by a claw of a reinforcement member is released, and the locking convex part of the hook is positioned in a locking ditch of the reinforcement member. The head of the hook is constrained to move in the axial direction by means of a main distal cover that is an elastic member and the claw. The locking convex part is then fitted into the locking ditch reliably. Consequently, the distal cover can be fixed to the main distal part readily, freely detachably, and reliably with high positioning precision.Type: GrantFiled: April 29, 1997Date of Patent: January 19, 1999Assignee: Olympus Optical Co., Ltd.Inventors: Koji Yamaya, Tatsuya Furukawa, Takahiro Kishi, Tsugio Okazaki, Haruhiko Kaiya, Hisao Yabe, Tsutomu Ishiguro

Patent number: 5840016Abstract: A line changeover device for an endoscope, which changes over a line which is arranged in the endoscope, is arranged such that it comprises a cylinder and a piston which is fitted and inserted into the cylinder in a retractable manner, a seal member which is abutted against the cylinder for retaining at least one of water tightness and gas tightness with respect to the cylinder is fixedly provided on an outer periphery of the piston, and a strength reinforcement is provided on at least a part between an outer periphery of said seal member and an inner periphery thereof. The water tightness and the gas tightness within the cylinder are retained or held, and a sliding resistance of the piston is kept appropriately or adequately without the use of lubricating oil. Sliding ability between the cylinder and the piston at the time of operation is improved. Operability can be made fine or satisfactory.Type: GrantFiled: June 7, 1996Date of Patent: November 24, 1998Assignee: Olympus Optical Co., Ltd.Inventors: Seiji Kitano, Hideo Ito, Tsutomu Ishiguro, Yoshiyuki Tanii, Satoshi Nakagawasai, Yasuhito Kura
