Patent number: 7171186Abstract: Data which indicates remaining capacity of a battery in terms of the terminal voltage of the battery is updated by a control unit when necessary, whereby available capacity of the battery is accurately calculated regardless of the extent of deterioration of the battery. In addition to the battery's calculated available capacity, a radio-wave receiving condition and a temperature detected by a temperature detection unit are also taken into consideration to accurately calculate and display an available time. Moreover, the control unit performs the entire process of backing up user data into a non-volatile internal memory (flash memory), which reduces power consumption required for the backup process, resulting in a longer available time.Type: GrantFiled: July 14, 2003Date of Patent: January 30, 2007Assignee: Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd.Inventors: Ryoko Miyachi, Tsutomu Mikami

Patent number: 6081537Abstract: A signal trap device and method for trapping a desired FM signal out of a frequency multiplexed signal where a plurality of FM signals are included in a frequency multiplexed form. A replay signal reproduced from a video cassette tape is supplied directly to a subtracter while being fed to a fixed delay circuit and a variable delay circuit to be delayed therein by a predetermined delay time. The delayed signal is supplied also to the subtracter, which then subtracts the delayed signal from the reproduced replay signal and outputs the result of such subtraction therefrom. The delay time of the fixed delay circuit is set to correspond to the center frequency of the carrier of the desired FM signal to be trapped. Meanwhile the delay time of the variable delay circuit is so set as to correspond to the signal obtained by demodulating the desired FM signal. Thus, the desired FM signal can be trapped properly without any harmful influence on the other FM signal.Type: GrantFiled: May 20, 1997Date of Patent: June 27, 2000Assignee: Sony CorporationInventors: Masayasu Kaneko, Tsutomu Mikami

Patent number: 4706141Abstract: A video tape recorder, according to the present invention, comprises a mechanical chassis supporting a mechanism for recording and reproducing video signals on a magnetic video tape housed in a cassette. The mechanical chassis moves essentially on a horizontal plane at a load position and an ejecting position. At the load position, the mechanical chassis projects frontward from an outer cover housing of the video tape recorder for loading and/or ejecting a magnetic video tape cassette. Preferably, the recorder has at least two load positions and can perform recording and/or reproduction at either load position. At a first load position, the mechanical chassis is housed within the internal space of the recorder housing. At second load position, the mechanical chassis projects at least partway from the recorder housing. A push-button operated controller for operating the recorder is also disclosed.Type: GrantFiled: July 8, 1985Date of Patent: November 10, 1987Assignee: Sony CorporationInventors: Seisuke Oba, Tsutomu Mikami, Hideyuki Suzuki, Mitsuhiro Shimada, Tadashi Suzuki
