    Abstract: A reed relay comprising a reed switch having a pair of leads and a magnetic coil assembly for driving the reed switch, the magnetic coil assembly being composed of a magnetic coil wound around a cylindrical bobbin having an insulating flange at each end of the cylindrical bobbin, a terminal insulator integrally continuous with each flange, and a plurality of terminal leads insulated from one another by each of the terminal insulators. One embodiment of the present invention is a cylindrical bobbin having an electric conductivity so as to act as an electrostatic shield for the reed switch inserted thereinto, and another embodiment of the present invention is a method for fabricating the magnetic coil assembly comprising a step of forming a cylindrical bobbin and the terminal leads in each side of the cylindrical bobbin by using a patterned sheet of metal, wherein the cylindrical bobbin is continuous with the ground terminal lead in each side.

    Abstract: A detector indicates the presence of a desired signal when both of at least two conditions occur. The first condition requires the presence of a selected frequency in an input signal and a second condition requires the amplitude of the input signal at the selected frequency to fall within a predetermined range. A third condition requires that one or both of the first and second condition have a duration of at least a selected period of time. In one embodiment, the detector indicates the presence of a stereo audio signal in a television transmission program when (1) a pilot frequency (15.734 khz) is present in the composite baseband, (2) the signal amplitude at the pilot frequency corresponds to a frequency deviation of not more than 5.5 khz and not less than 4.5 khz from the 4.5 mhz carrier frequency, and (3) the two aforementioned conditions exist for a predetermined period of time, preferably about one millisecond.

    Abstract: An interrupt circuit monitors a television audio demodulator or an external video input circuit and interrupts the video signal to CRT and the audio signal to television speaker(s) whenever a lost signal condition is detected. In the preferred embodiment, a lost signal condition is detected by monitoring the voltage level of the signal from the audio demodulator or the external video input circuit and generating a detect signal whenever the voltage exceeds a predetermined threshold. When a television signal is lost, both the audio demodulator signal and the external video signal constitute a noise signal that has a voltage amplitude that is greater than the normal operating range of either of these two signals. In the preferred embodiment, when a detect signal is produced, both the video signal to the CRT and the audio signal to the television speaker(s) are interrupted and alternate video and audio signals are provided to the CRT and speaker(s) by a microprocessor.
