Abstract: A method for efficiently producing theanine is provided, wherein glutamine and ethylamine are reacted by Pseudomonas citronellosis GEA FERM BP-8353, which is newly separated/selected from natural soil, belongs to the genus, Pseudomonas, and the species citronellosis and is a theanine producing bacteria with activities of transferring the ?-glutamyl group. Theanine production increased by four times by using glutaminase derived from the bacteria in a mixture of glutamine and ethylamine at a pH in a range of 9-12 in comparison with conventional methods.

Abstract: An object of this invention is to provide a sleep improvement composition, which contains theanine and other components and can be used safely by anybody on a daily basis without side effects. This object is attained by a sleep improvement composition comprising: (a) theanine; and (b) at least one component selected from the group consisting of chamomile, lavender, Saint John's wort, kawakawa, valerian, passion flower, tryptophan, ?-aminobutyric acid, serotonin, melatonin, and cedrol.

The automatic bobbin exchanger includes a pair of two dummy shafts and a rotary arm having a grip mechanism for releasably holding a bobbin case. The dummy shafts are provided at positions opposable to a moving path of the rotary arm. One of the dummy shaft holds a fully wound bobbin and the other holds a bobbin with a small amount of the remaining lower thread. Preferably, a remaining-thread mover unit which completely removes the small amount of remaining lower thread around the bobbin and a lower-thread winder which winds lower thread around the empty bobbin may be provided at positions opposable to a moving path of the rotary arm.
