The imaging unit 22 is arranged on an opposite side of the test tube 14 from the surface illumination 21, and captures an image including the boundary 141. The boundary detection processor 31 detects the boundary 141 from the image captured by the imaging unit 22.

The controlling circuit increases an on-duration in which the on-off signal is at an on-level at a given rate to turns the motor slowly. The centrifuge has a safety guard system made up of a door switch and a door lock switch which are installed in series between the dc power supply and the motor and work to establish electric communication between the dc power supply and the motor when the door is closed and locked.

The increased cycle life is accomplished by a suitable combination of electrochemical generating elements. The high performance with heavy drain discharge service is obtained by an improved zinc electrode construction. The battery of this invention has a sheet-like kneaded zinc electrode, a sheet-like nickel oxide electrode with limited capacity ratio thereof, a separator, an electrolyte absorber, and a concentrated alkaline electrolyte in limited amounts.

    Abstract: The positive electrode of a nickel-zinc cell comprises a positive electrode composition containing less than 90 parts by weight manganese dioxide in 100 parts of nickel oxide which is mixed with an electroconducting material and binding material. The positive electrode composition, preferably is tightly covered with an electron conducting sheet containing many apertures. The nickel-zinc cells modified by these procedures have an improved capacity which is available during heavy current discharge loads, particularly under intermittent discharge, and the capacity loss of the cells during storage is reduced.
