  • Publication number: 20030117519
Abstract: If an electronic camera is set in an image-capturing sensitivity automatic control mode, a program autoexposure calculation is executed based upon the subject brightness and the image-capturing sensitivity setting to determine a control aperture value and a control shutter speed. If the correct exposure is not achieved, a control exposure sensitivity is calculated based upon the exposure deviation and the image-capturing sensitivity setting is adjusted accordingly. If an internal flash unit or an external flash unit is utilized, an autoexposure calculation is executed by using the flash unit synchronizing speed, the subject brightness and the image-capturing sensitivity setting to determine the control aperture value.

  • Patent number: 5956537
Abstract: A film feeding device for a camera uses first and second electric motors associated with first and second planetary gearing mechanisms, respectively. In one embodiment, the first motor and first planetary gearing mechanism drive a spool shaft of a film cartridge to supply film to a winding spool. The winding spool is driven by the second motor and second planetary gearing mechanism to wind film onto the winding spool, at which time the first motor is stopped and the first planetary gearing mechanism is automatically disconnected from the spool shaft. For rewinding, the second motor is operated in reverse and the second planetary gearing mechanism is automatically disconnected from the winding spool and connected to the spool shaft of the film cartridge.

  • Patent number: 5950033
Abstract: A film cartridge holding device is provided which smoothly socket-connects with and precisely positions the spool shaft in a film cartridge. The film cartridge holding device has two holding shafts oppositely mounted in a film cartridge chamber. A rotatably mounted first holding shaft supports a first end of the spool shaft. The first holding shaft has a driving member which is axially slidable and biased toward the spool shaft. The driving member has a spool engagement member which angularly engages with the first end of the spool shaft. The driving member withdraws to allow the film cartridge to be loaded into the film cartridge chamber, if necessary. A second holding shaft opposite the first holding shaft supports a second end of the spool shaft and compliantly urges the spool shaft toward the first holding shaft.

  • Patent number: 5802411
Abstract: This invention is applicable to a camera having a cartridge chamber into which a film cartridge is detachably insertable along its axis direction. The camera is equipped with a cartridge-load detection switch for outputting a load signal when the cartridge is loaded in the cartridge chamber, and outputting a non-load signal when the loaded cartridge is drawn out from the cartridge chamber by at least a predetermined amount. When the photographed cartridge is partially drawn out from the cartridge chamber and then reloaded into the cartridge chamber as it is, the output of the load signal is continued if the draw-out amount is below the predetermined amount, thereby preventing an erroneous judgment that a new cartridge is loaded into the cartridge chamber. Therefore, for example, the double exposure can be prevented.

  • Patent number: 5781810
Abstract: A camera that effectively uses only two film supply motors. The operation of supplying film from a cartridge is performed by driving a first motor in a first direction. The operation preparatory to magnetic recording on the film is performed by driving the first motor in a second direction different from the first direction. Further, the operation of winding the film on the camera side is performed by driving a second motor in a third direction. The operation of rewinding the film into the cartridge is performed by driving the second motor in a fourth direction different from the third direction. Alternatively, the second motor fourth direction can be used to perform the operation preparatory to magnetic recording, and the first motor second direction can be used to perform the film rewinding. The present invention applies to normal or prewinding cameras.

  • Patent number: 5778266
Abstract: A data transcribing device for a camera includes structure to adjust the threshold voltage of an external display to be higher than the threshold voltage of the transcribing structure to easily check the battery voltage through the external data display and to prevent data transcription failures when the battery voltage drops. The data transcribing device includes a battery power source, a data transcribing display, and an external display powered by the battery power source. When the data transcribing display includes a light emitting source powered by the battery power source and a component other than the light emitting source that is not powered by the battery power source, or when the data transcribing display consists of only the light emitting source (such as, e.g., an LED), the driving threshold level of the external display is set to be higher than the driving threshold level of the light emitting source.

  • Patent number: 5640634
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a camera having a cartridge chamber, which is formed as a hole in the body of the camera, into which a film cartridge is inserted along its axial direction through an access opening of the hole. The cartridge has an identifying mechanism for indicating whether the film in the cartridge has been used. The camera includes a load prevention member provided in the cartridge chamber that engages the identifying mechanism of the cartridge and prevents insertion of the cartridge into the chamber when the identifying mechanism indicates that the film has been used. The camera also includes a signal output circuit for outputting a load signal when the cartridge is loaded into the cartridge chamber and a non-load signal when the cartridge is unloaded from the cartridge chamber. The signal output circuit outputs the load signal before the cartridge engages the load prevention member.

  • Patent number: 5579067
Abstract: A camera records information relating to each photographic frame of a film onto an information recording area provided on the film while the film is being fed. Regulating circuitry is provided to regulate the recordation so that no information is recorded for a frame under consideration when it is confirmed that the information relating to the frame under consideration is the same as information relating to a previous frame. In all other cases information relating to a frame under consideration is recorded for the frame under consideration. This greatly decreases the amount of information recorded when the same information continues for multiple frames and prevents wasteful expenditure of a battery power source.
