The settlement apparatus operates in a link mode in which the settlement apparatus is linked to the registration apparatus if the registration apparatus is in the operating state, or operates in a stand-alone mode in which the settlement apparatus is not linked to the registration apparatus if the registration apparatus is in the non-operating state.
