  • Patent number: 5260029
Abstract: To assure detection of fluorescence produced from continuously supplied fine particles such as DNA bases with accuracy and excellent efficiency, fine particles supplied from a flow cell are introduced into a through-hole of a hollow photomultiplier. An optical fiber is disposed in axial alignment with the through-hole of the photomultiplier and irradiates an exciting light beam onto the fine particles staying in the through-hole. Light-induced fluorescence is thus detected by the photomultiplier which has a photocathode on an inner circumference of the through-hole.

  • Patent number: 5105398
Abstract: A three-handed clock has a single movement to rotationally drive the second, minute and hour hands. The rotary output of the movement is transmitted directly to the second hand and is transmitted through a transmission belt to the minute and hour hands. The use of the transmission belt eliminates the need for a gear train to drive the minute and hour hands thereby providing greater design flexibility and ease of assembly and maintenance.

  • Patent number: 4912737
Abstract: The X-ray image microscope according to this invention comprises an X-ray absorption imaging unit having a glazing incidence mirror, and an electron imaging unit having an electron lens connected to the X-ray absorption imaging unit. A thin support film is provided on the boundary between the X-ray absorption imaging unit and the electron imaging unit. On the support film is formed a photocathode screen which emits photoelectrons in response to an incident X-ray. The X-ray absorption image of an X-ray which has penetrated a specimen, e.g. a living cell, is magnified by the X-ray imaging unit, and the electron image corresponding to the X-ray image is magnified by an electron lens. The magnified electron image is converted into a light image by a phosphor screen, and the light image is caught by a TV camera. In this way biological materials can be observed, magnified in their living states.

  • Patent number: 4862004
Abstract: A method and portable apparatus for measuring radiation dose and identifying a source radionuclide. Energy correction to calibrate detected charge to .gamma.-ray energy level is made through the use of naturally occurring radiation from 40K in a potassium compound KCl. One embodiment includes a portable scintillator and photomultiplier (PMT) along with an accumulation memory, an input means, a signal processing circuit, a memory and an output means. A warning function informs of an abnormality when the difference between the measured radiation data and the standard data in the device memory exceeds a predetermined value.

  • Patent number: 4796239
Abstract: A circuit unit including a plurality of lead frames which are made of a metal sheet and one of which is used for die-bonding an integrated circuit. The die-bonding lead member is formed to have at least a generally H-shaped portion constructed of a pair of parallel side portions and a connecting portion for connecting the two side portions for die-bonding the integrated circuit thereto. The remaining lead members are separated from said die-bonding one and have individual end portions positioned in the vicinity of the integrated circuit and connected electrically therewith by means of bonding wires. The die-bonding lead member and the remaining lead members are integrated either with a potting resin for protection the integrated circuit or with the potting resin and/or an insulating plate backing the potting resin. The aforementioned two side portions are fixed on a holding member. Also disclosed is a process for fabricating the aforementioned circuit unit.

  • Patent number: 4745682
Abstract: A method of connecting a coil as mounted in an electric watch or clock in which a lead wire of the coil is made to cross a conductor near the terminal portion of the coil. The lead wire is drawn so as to traverse beyond a conductor to which it is to be attached, and the lead wire is anchored by an anchoring device so as to hold it against the conductor. The lead wire is then bonded to the conductor at the point of traverse.
