  • Patent number: 7148656
Abstract: A control unit calculates target power to be generated based upon a bypass engaging voltage used as a reference voltage at which a capacity adjustment circuit executes a capacity adjustment, and issues a power generation command for an inverter so as to generate the target power if it is decided that the capacities of the individual cells need to be adjusted.

  • Patent number: 6160380
Abstract: A method and apparatus of estimating a residual energy of a battery for an electric vehicle. A battery characteristic is corrected on the basis of a temperature correction factor and a deterioration correction factor which are obtained on the basis of the condition of the battery. The deterioration correction factor includes an internal resistance deterioration correction factor indicative of a deterioration ratio of a battery internal resistance and a energy deterioration correction factor indicative of a deterioration ratio of a battery energy. The residual capacity is calculated on the basis of the corrected battery characteristic, a discharge current and a terminal voltage of the battery. Therefore, a residual energy meter accurately displays a residual energy of the battery.

  • Patent number: 5684383
Abstract: A regenerative charge control system includes a cell, an inverter for converting a discharge power of the cell into a load driving force when a load is driven and for inverting the load driving force into the discharge power of the cell when the power is regenerated by the load, a voltage sensor for detecting a voltage between both ends of the cell, a current sensor for detecting a current passing through the cell, and a controller for measuring a discharge voltage and a discharge current of the cell by means of the voltage and current sensors when the load is driven. The controller estimates an allowable regenerative power when the power is regenerated on the basis of the measured results, and controls the charging power of the cell when the power is regenerated so as not to exceed the allowable regenerative power.

  • Patent number: 5265571
Abstract: An engine idle speed control system is designed to perform a transient correction in order to prevent an idle engine speed of an internal combustion engine from being made unstable by a load of an auxiliary unit, such as an air conditioner of a vehicle. The idle speed control system comprises an idle control valve provided in a bypass passage bypassing a throttle valve disposed in an intake passage of the engine, and a controller for controlling the idle engine speed by manipulating the opening degree of the idle control valve. The controller increases the opening degree of the idle control valve transiently when the load of the auxiliary unit is applied, and then decreases the opening degree with passage of time.

  • Patent number: 5220828
Abstract: An apparatus for use with an internal combustion engine having first and second throttle valves located in series within an engine induction passage. The apparatus comprises a first sensor associated with the first throttle valve for deriving a first sensor signal indicative of a first throttle valve position and a second sensor associated with the second throttle valve for deriving a second sensor signal indicative of a second throttle valve position. The first and second minimum values of the first and second sensors are detected. The detected first and second minimum values correspond to minimum positions of the first and second throttle valves, respectively. A difference between the first and second minimum values is calculated and one of the first and second sensor signals is corrected in a direction zeroing the calculated difference.

  • Patent number: 5048372
Abstract: An engine output characteristics control system includes means for monitoring a selection of speed ratios of a power transmission to provide information concerning transmission gear position. The control system receives transmission gear position indicative information to detect selection of a specific speed ratio of the transmission for providing information indicative of the selection of the specific transmission gear position. The control system is responsive to the specific transmission gear position selection indicative information for deriving an engine control signal for controlling the engine output characteristics so that the engine output is adapted to the specific speed ratio.
