Patent number: 8783118Abstract: A bending load acting on a steering shaft only with a magnetostrictive torque sensor, without separately providing a sensor for detecting the bending moment. A storage unit stores, as an initial characteristic curve formed from initial detection values, a characteristic curve formed from detection values of each of a first detection coil and a second detection coil when only twisting torque is applied to a steering shaft. A bending load detector provided in an ECU detects a bending load amount acting on the steering shaft based on a difference between each detection value of the first and second detection coils and the initial detection value on the initial characteristic curve corresponding to the detection value.Type: GrantFiled: March 28, 2011Date of Patent: July 22, 2014Assignee: Honda Motor Co., Ltd.Inventors: Shinichiro Kato, Takeshi Wakabayashi, Katsumi Sahoda, Tsuyoshi Tsuda, Hiroyuki Kaneta

Patent number: 8620525Abstract: A system for performing posture control of a motorcycle is such that in outputting a synthesized output by adjusting a yaw direction output and a roll direction output outputted from a displacement detection sensor by an adjustment part respectively, a synthesized output in which the yaw direction output is larger than the roll direction output is outputted when a vehicle speed is low, and a synthesized output in which the roll direction output is larger than the yaw direction output is outputted when the vehicle speed is high. Accordingly, in either a case where the vehicle is traveling at a low speed or a case where the vehicle is traveling at a high speed, the displacement and the behavior of a motorcycle 10 can be detected with high accuracy thus eventually realizing a control of the posture of the motorcycle 10 with high accuracy.Type: GrantFiled: September 22, 2011Date of Patent: December 31, 2013Assignee: Honda Motor Co., Ltd.Inventors: Makoto Araki, Hiroyoshi Kobayashi, Tsuyoshi Tsuda, Tsubasa Nose

Publication number: 20040181377Abstract: A flame propagation modeling method is provided to accommodate a variety of combustion modes. The flame propagation modeling method defines a flame surface area density to be the flame surface per unit volume and models the flame propagation based on the fact that the progress of the flame transports, generates, and diffuses the flame surface area density. The generation of the flame surface area density, which expresses the progress of the flame, is expressed as flame growth resulting from turbulent combustion and as flame growth resulting from laminar combustion. The flame growth resulting from turbulent combustion is inversely proportional to the chemical reaction characteristic time and is a function of a turbulent Reynolds number. The flame growth resulting from laminar combustion is proportional to both the laminar flame speed and to the ratio of the temperature of a burned portion to the temperature of an unburned portion and is a function of the Karlowitz number.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 5, 2004Publication date: September 16, 2004Applicant: Nissan Motor Co., Ltd.Inventors: Atsushi Teraji, Tsuyoshi Tsuda, Toru Noda
