  • Patent number: 11921562
Abstract: Power supply efficiency may be provided. First, a total power supply capacity may be determined comprising a sum of a plurality of supply capacities respectively corresponding to a plurality of power supplies serving a plurality of components. Next, a load value corresponding to the plurality of components may be determined. A number of the plurality of power supplies may then be powered down. The number of power supplies powered down may comprise a value that may cause a remaining number of the plurality of power supplies serving the plurality of components to operate within an efficiency range.

  • Patent number: 8515283
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for providing distance extension and other transport functions such as error monitoring, provisioning, and link/service management in a fiber channel path are disclosed. According to one aspect of the present invention, a transport node includes a processing arrangement and an output interface. The processing arrangement creates a first ordered set that includes information associated with an ability for the transport node to receive a first fiber channel frame, and inserts the first ordered set between a second ordered set and a third ordered set of a fiber channel stream. The output interface transmits the fiber channel stream, which includes the information regarding whether the transport node is capable of receiving the first fiber channel frame.

  • Patent number: 6842126
Abstract: A method of coding data for communication within a network. The method includes receiving an 8b/10b source protocol data stream containing 10-bit code and translating the data stream into an 8-bit code by converting the 10-bit code into 8-bit data and an ordered set. The method further includes transmitting the 8-bit code.

  • Patent number: 6735207
Abstract: To reduce the number of memory access cycles required to process each data element in a data networking device having one or more queues and a corresponding set of data link structures, the queue and data link structures are implemented on separate memories. Each queue is maintained using separate receive and transmit queue structures. Similarly, the data memory linked list is separated into a data queue link and a data stack link. Each of these four memories comprises its own address and data bus, and all four memories may be accessed simultaneously by a controller. In a general case, processing a complete data transmission event (i.e., a data element arrival and a data element departure) may be performed with a latency of at most three steps. In the first step, the transmit queue is read to obtain the old head pointer.
