    Abstract: An engine valve operating apparatus of the type having an overhead camshaft with a plurality of cams for opening and closing intake and exhaust valves of an internal combustion engine. The camshaft is mounted on the engine by means of a plurality of bearing members each disposed one between two adjacent cams. The outermost cam is disposed outside the outermost bearing member and has a cam lobe with a closing ramp height higher than that of the cam lobes of the remaining cams.
