  • Patent number: 4495530
Abstract: In an opto-magnetic apparatus using an opto-magnetic record disc which has been uniformly magnetized in one direction perpendicular to a surface of the disc, an information signal recorded in the disc along a track is erased by irradiating the track to be erased with a laser light beam to heat the relevant track to a Curie point and by applying an external erasing magnetic field having a direction opposite to that of the uniform magnetization in the disc so as to magnetize the track in the other direction. In case of re-recording an information signal in the thus erased track, the information signal is first inverted and then the laser beam is modulated with the inverted information signal and the modulated laser beam is projected upon the erased track, while an external magnetic field having the same direction as that of the uniform magnetization in the disc is applied.

  • Patent number: 4481548
Abstract: A still video signal is modulated to a PDM signal by a pulse duration modulator. The PDM signal is recorded by a perpendicular magnetic recording head on a recording medium of perpendicular magnetic anisotropy according to the perpendicular magnetic recording method. The PDM signal recorded on the recording medium is reproduced by a perpendicular magnetic reproducing head.

  • Patent number: 4451863
Abstract: An information reproducing apparatus for reproducing information recorded on a record medium based on an opto-magnetic effect is disclosed. A laser light source, a first polarizing beam splitter, a first Faraday element, a second polarizing beam splitter, an optical member having a second Faraday element or a rotatory polarizer, and first and second photodetectors, which elements are positioned along an optical axis in the described order. The angle between the polarizing axis of the first beam splitter and the polarizing axis of the second beam splitter is made .pi./4 and Faraday elements rotate the polarizing direction of the light beam therethrough. The first photodetector receives the laser beam reflected by the record medium and the second beam splitter and the second photodetector receives the laser beam reflected by the record medium, transmitted through the second beam splitter and reflected by the first beam splitter.

  • Patent number: 4384308
Abstract: An apparatus for recording and detecting a cue signal which comprises:a recording section (100) for recording in a recording medium a composite cue signal formed of a component signal having a first frequency (f1) and denoting a tape speed pattern and another immediately following component signal having a second frequency (f2) and representing a cue signal pattern; anda detecting section (200), which, at the time of reproducing said composite cue signal, compensates a component signal which represents a cue signal pattern and is detected immediately after a tape speed pattern component signal drawn out of the recording medium in proportion to the period (T10) of said tape speed component signal, andwhen said composite cue signal is recorded in said recording medium, provides data on a cue signal pattern on the basis of the compensated component signal denoting a cue signal pattern.

  • Patent number: 4232348
Abstract: A tape end warning apparatus comprises an alarm switch which is closed in response to the detection of a terminal end of a running tape being reached during a record or playback operation of a tape recorder, and an oscillator circuit which is activated by the closure of the switch. The oscillator circuit produces an alarm signal which is fed to an amplifier inherently contained in a tape recorder so as to give off an audible alarm through a loudspeaker which is connected with the amplifier.

  • Patent number: 4208622
Abstract: A motor circuit of a tape recorder comprises a mechanical switch in which a movable contact is connected to a first contact in response to the depression of a recording or reproduction button, and also to a second contact in response to the depression of a fast feeding or rewinding button. A motor control circuit is connected to a D.C. power source through the first contact of the mechanical switch to provide a motor speed suitable for the recording or reproduction. An output terminal of a constant voltage circuit connected to the D.C. power source is connected to the motor through a switching transistor. The switching transistor is rendered conducting in response to the closing of the second contact of the mechanical switch, causing an output from the constant voltage circuit to be supplied to the motor to rotate the motor at a high speed suitable for the fast feeding or rewinding.
