  • Publication number: 20050045494
Abstract: A pulse-type gas concentration measurement system and a method of pulse-type gas concentration measurement in a specific environment. When the sensor is located at a specific position, a variable pulse-modulated voltage is sent to the sensor, so that the sensor outputs a first signal to the processing device. The processing device compares the first signal to the chemical matter characteristics signals to determine the composition and concentration of respective constituents in the gas, and determines a detection voltage according to the first signal. Then, a square-wave pulse with the detection voltage is sent intermittently to the sensor, so that the sensor outputs a second signal to the processing device. The processing device compares the second signal to the chemical matter characteristics signal to determine the concentration variation of each respective constituent of the gas.

  • Patent number: 6703922
Abstract: A method for monitoring exposure time of workers involves the use of a sensor, which is carried by the workers for monitoring continually in a real-time fashion in an environment such that the results are recorded by a recorder. The an add-on or built-in timer in the sensor or the recorder is used to monitor time, which is recorded in the recorder simultaneously, so as to obtain the real-time continuous exposure level of a hazardous material in the environment.

  • Publication number: 20040043503
Abstract: An automatic mass spectrometry analytical system was developed for the quantitative detection of organic toxicant exposure in the human body. A cartridge (such as C18 cartridge) is integrated into the automatic mass spectrometry analytical system. The sample undergoes sample pretreatment by the cartridge before entering the mass spectrometry for analysis. This increases the accuracy and sensitivity of analysis, while also avoiding tedious manual sample pretreatment procedures. The whole analytical process is fully automatic and therefore useful for high throughput sample analysis.

  • Patent number: 5984868
Abstract: A device is intended to measure an absorbed dose of a hazardous gas by skin of a human body and is composed of an exposure chamber, a gas concentration control system, and one or more gas sensors. A naked part of the human body is held in the exposure chamber containing the hazardous gas of a concentration which is kept in a predetermined range by the gas concentration control system. As the concentration of the hazardous gas drops below the predetermined range, the gas concentration control system replenishes the exposure chamber with an amount of the hazardous gas with the help of a concentration signal transmitted from the sensors, so that the concentration of the hazardous gas is once again kept in the predetermined range. The absorbed dose of the hazardous gas by skin is computed on the basis of the amount of the hazardous gas that is replenished.

  • Patent number: 5702506
Abstract: An aerosol size-selective sampling device is composed of pre-filter, a base housing, and a collector. The device is intended to take an aerosol sample from a given atmospheric air. The pre-filter is composed of two or more porous filtration materials arranged in one end of the base housing in a parallel manner for allowing the atmospheric air to pass therethrough in a parallel and diverting pattern before the atmospheric air is allowed to pass in a converging manner through the collector which is located in another end of the base housing. The pre-filter is able to attain a desired penetration rate profile as a function of an aerodynamic diameter of aerosol contained in the atmospheric air within a predetermined range of aerodynamic diameter.
