  • Patent number: 10419943
Abstract: An overlay of millimeter wave (mmWave)-capable cells are added to a citizens broadband radio service (CBRS) network to provide coverage in a next generation fixed wireless (NGFW) network. The availability of mmWave spectrum, with limited reach, can be utilized as a wireless backhaul for subsequent hops. In one aspect, integrated access front-haul nodes (IAFHNs) that are utilized for mmWave transmissions at a second (and/or subsequent) hop can be deployed with self aligning receivers. Further, the IAFHNs can facilitate adaptive resource allocation scheduling in an integrated access and backhaul (IAB) chain. In addition, an interface between macro access points can be enhanced to enable the adaptive resource allocation on the IAB chain. In one aspect, a fixed user equipment (UE) can be configured with dual connectivity (DC) and a network operator can offer different tiers of services based on a location of the UE.

  • Publication number: 20190199757
Abstract: Concepts and technologies provided herein can provide high-definition voice for fixed mobile convergence on mobile and wireline networks. A processor executing instructions can detect a call request associated with a called telephone number to setup a call session, where the call request is initiated from a calling device associated with an originating network. The processor can determine a call path for the call session from the originating network to a receiving network. The processor can create a fixed mobile convergence request to alert an electronic number mapping system of the call path for the call session from the originating network to the receiving network. The electronic number mapping system can provide a network presence map identifying a plurality of call receiving devices associated with the called telephone number that are available to participate in the call session via the receiving network.

  • Publication number: 20170085085
Abstract: Voltage fluctuations in a supply network are intended to be reduced efficiently and cost-effectively. According to the method, a current flowing into a load is measured and a corresponding current measurement signal is obtained. The voltage fluctuations are reduced with the aid of a TCR, which constitutes a thyristor-controlled reactance, and a VSC, which constitutes a voltage source converter. The current measurement signal or a corresponding variable is divided into a first portion and a second portion depending on a predefined absolute limit value. The TCR is controlled on the basis of the first portion and the VSC is controlled on the basis of the second portion. Alternatively, the TCR can be controlled with the load current measurement signal and the VSC can be controlled with a sum of the load current measurement signal and a TCR current measurement signal.

  • Patent number: 9285817
Abstract: A power supply device for a nonlinear, time-varying load has a multi-phase power system. The load and a reactive power compensator are connected to the phases of the power system. The reactive power compensator is embodied as a multilevel converter with multiple strands, each connected to one of the power system phases and to the other strands at a common star point. The power supply device has a filter circuit that filters harmonics of load and converter currents. The filter circuit has multiple strands, each connected to one of the power system phases and to the other strands at a common star point of the filter circuit, which is connected to the common star point of the multilevel converter such that the common star point of the multilevel converter is connected to the power system phases both via the strands of the multilevel converter and via the filter circuit.

  • Patent number: 9004102
Abstract: Disclosed are various apparatus and method for transferring a hydrocarbon fluid between two bodies. To this purpose, a transfer skid and transfer hoses are moved from a first body to a second body to be installed thereupon to provide fluid communication between the two bodies. Offloading of hydrocarbon fluid may then take place between the two bodies. Emergency release operation may be triggered during the offloading, where the transfer hoses are disconnected from the transfer skid, and are returned to the first body. Various features of the transfer skid and associated apparatus allow the transfer skid to be installed on the second body with improved mating connections, transfer hoses to be returned to the first body after offloading operation without hydrocarbon fluid leakage, and transfer hoses to disconnect with speed and safety during emergency release operation.

  • Patent number: 8544840
Abstract: An automatic document feeder with a drive system that can efficiently handle double-side scanning and accommodate more than one timing sequence for sequentially picking individual sheets from a stack using only two motors—a pick motor and a media motor. The automatic document feeder includes a pickup unit with a pick roller, a set of de-skew rollers, a main media path configured to guide a media sheet from the pickup unit to a scanning region and from the scanning region to an output tray, and a switch-back path configured to guide the media sheet back into the main media path. The drive system is operable to provide a high-speed picking mode and a delayed picking mode. In the high-speed picking mode, the pickup unit is driven by the pick motor to pull a subsequent media sheet from a stack of media sheet as soon as a previously pulled media sheet has passed the pick roller.

  • Patent number: 8052718
Abstract: A non-invasive blood vessel occlusion device includes a pair of pressure-applying members with opposed tissue-contacting surfaces, a supporting shaft configured to adjust the distance between tissue-contacting surfaces, and at least one sensor for locating a blood vessel disposed on at least one pressure-applying member. Blood vessels may be occluded by indirectly compressing the artery by compressing tissue near to an artery. The occlusion device finds use in, for example, treating uterine disorders and conditions which may be treated by occlusion of the uterine arteries. A uterine artery may be accessed via a body cavity, such as a patient's vagina, and may be occluded by compressing a portion of the vaginal wall around a portion of a uterine artery.

  • Patent number: 8047151
Abstract: A system and method for configuring and supporting mooring lines deployed on offshore structures, e.g. Spar-type platform, are provided with recessed portions that are located around the splash/ice zones for “cutting” through waves. An offshore structure may be provided with a chain tensioning mechanism that applies a desired tension to a hull chain and mooring line during mooring. Upon mooring the offshore structure, a chain lock mechanism maintains the tension in the hull chain and mooring line, while the chain tensioning mechanism releases a portion of the hull chain which is to be stored in a chain housing which is fully submerged underwater. This way, the recessed portions of the offshore structure around the splash/ice zones would be substantially free of the hull chains. Additionally, a disconnect mechanism may be provided to allow quick and safe disconnection of the offshore structure from the mooring position.
