  • Patent number: 7416553
Abstract: A drill guide for use in securing a spinal fixation plate to a spine is provided. In a preferred embodiment, the drill guide generally includes a support member having first and second arms mated thereto. Each arm includes a proximal end and a distal end having at least one barrel coupled thereto and defining a lumen for receiving a tool. One or both arms can be slidably movable along the support member to allow the distance between the arms to be adjusted. In use, the arms can be adjusted to engage a spinal fixation plate and to position the barrels on each arm in alignment with bores formed in the fixation plate. The drill guide can then be used to drill, awl, tap, and insert implants, such as spinal screws, into the vertebral bodies to attach the fixation plate thereto.

  • Publication number: 20070294660
Abstract: A method, system and computer program are provided for problem determination in an enterprise computer system in a distributed environment. In the method, information is obtained regarding the enterprise applications, and high-level information is presented to a user, with one or more prompts are provided to the user for more detailed information. In response to a request from a user for more detailed information about the application, more detailed information is provided to the user. Several levels of more detailed information about applications, including information as to individual threads, is available. The method also includes the steps of receiving instructions from an administrator to establish an account for a user, associating one or more servers with the account, and providing access to the corresponding user only to the associated servers. In the method, searches may be conducted for strings and requests, and identified strings and requests may be sorted by a variety of criteria.

  • Publication number: 20040267274
Abstract: A tissue retractor and guide device for use in securing a spinal fixation plate to a spine is provided. In general, the device includes an elongate member having a guide member formed thereon or mated thereto with at least one lumen extending therethrough for receiving a tool. The guide member is adapted to couple to a spinal implant, while the distal portion of the elongate member is effective to retract tissue disposed adjacent to the guide member.

  • Publication number: 20040049283
Abstract: An expandable medical implant capable of being inserted between adjacent vertebral endplates in a spine. The implant, when in an expanded position, includes a thicker peripheral portion and a thinner interior portion. Also, a method of manufacturing an expandable medical implant having a thicker peripheral portion and a thinner interior portion. Further, a method for reducing back pain that includes placing a medical implant between two adjacent vertebral endplates and positioning the implant such that the implant distributes stresses toward stronger portions of the endplates when pressure is placed on the implant.

  • Patent number: 6136732
Abstract: An adhesive composition comprising a thermosetting powder adhesive adhered to a thermoplastic non-woven web adhesive, and processes for making the same. The thermosetting powder adhesive component is preferably a polyester, a polyester-polyurethane, an epoxy or an epoxy-polyester hybrid. The thermoplastic non-woven web adhesive component is preferably an ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer, a polyester, a polyolefin, or a polyamide. The adhesive composition provides superior bonding between vinyl and/or cloth coverings and a variety of surfaces including metal, plastic, rubber and wood. There is also disclosed herein a composite article that comprises an adhesive layer made from the aforementioned adhesive composition and a substrate layer, and processes for making the same.

  • Patent number: 5805922
Abstract: Serial communication circuitry (10) having multiple queues (11-14) for use in a data processing system (95). Each queue (11-14) has multiple entries (52). Serial transfers from the multiple queues (11-14) are carried out under the control of global parameters (e.g. 205, 209), per-queue parameters (e.g. 211-212, 214-217), and per-entry parameters (e.g. 350-361). Each queue can be programmed to have a different set of per-queue parameters, and each entry within a queue can be programmed to have a different set of per-entry parameters. In addition, serial communication circuitry (10) can perform serial data transfers in response to the assertion of a trigger signal (30) from a source such as a timer (63) or a central processing unit (61). As a result, data transfers can be more precisely related to a particular timing signal or set of timing signals.
