  • Publication number: 20090216132
Abstract: The invention provides a system and method for monitoring blood pressure. The system includes a cuff-free non-invasive portable blood pressure monitoring device, a processor configured to process in real-time signals obtained by the portable blood pressure device to produce one or more processing products, and a portable monitor having a display displaying in real-time one or more of the processing products. In the method of the invention, a blood pressure signal is obtained from a cuff-free non-invasive portable blood pressure monitoring device. Signals obtained by the portable blood pressure device are processed in real-time to produce one or more processing products that are displayed in real-time on a display of a portable monitor. The method and system of the invention may be used in the management of hypertension.

  • Publication number: 20080214903
Abstract: The invention provides a system and method for monitoring one or more physiological parameters of a user. The system of the invention includes one or more wearable sensor modules sensing the one or more physiological parameters. One or more transmitters wirelessly transmit signals indicative of values of the one or more physiological parameters to a mobile monitor. The mobile monitor includes a processor processing the signals received from the transmitter in real time using expert knowledge. A device provides one or more indications of results of the processing. The invention also provides wearable mobile sensors for use in the system of the invention. The method of the invention includes obtaining values of the physiological parameters of the user from one or more wearable sensor modules. Signals indicative of values of the one or more physiological parameters are wirelessly transmitted to a mobile monitor.

  • Patent number: 6067468
Abstract: The running of a program, designed to train the user to control one or more aspects of his or her psycho-physiological state, is controlled by signals representative of a psycho-physiological parameter of the user, e.g., galvanic skin resistance. This may be detected by a sensor unit with two contacts on adjacent fingers of a user. The sensor unit is separate from a receiver unit which is connected to a computer running the program.

  • Patent number: 6026322
Abstract: Apparatus and a program designed to train the user to control one or more aspects of his or her psycho-physiological state is controlled by signals representative of a psycho-physiological parameter of the user, e.g. galvanic skin resistance. This may be detected by a sensor unit with two contacts on adjacent fingers of a user. The sensor unit can be separate from a receiver unit which is connected to a computer running the program. The apparatus is described for use in treating patients with a physiological condition, for example, irritable bowel syndrome. In a treatment session, one or more psycho-physiological parameters of the patient is sensed and the sensed parameter used to alter a display which the patient watches. The display includes a visual or pictorial representation of the physiological condition being treated which changes in appearance in a fashion corresponding to the physiological change desired in the patient.

  • Patent number: 5896164
Abstract: Video display apparatus e.g. for use in biofeedback or in diagnosis is described. Between an audiovisual reproduction unit such as a video cassette player and a television display, the invention provides a signal modifying unit which can cause the television display to change. The amount of change and optionally also its type may depend on the sensing of a user parameter, for example a psychophysiological parameter of the user or patient such as electrodermal activity. The signal modification device is preferably pre-programmed and microprocessor controlled. It may also react to coded signals embedded in the composite video signal recorded on the video cassette.
