Patent number: 11941573Abstract: A system and method for food traceability from a food service location to the consumer is disclosed. The method comprises marking food items with a received label as the food items are received. This received label identifies a storage location for the food item and generates traceability information for the food item. If the food item is not intended for storage, then the food item is transferred to a prep table and unique item information is generated for the food item. The food item can then be prepped for usage. During the prepping process, the food item's expiration date is verified, and a serial number is generated, and a use by date is calculated. If the prepped food item is to be served to a consumer, a label is generated with traceability information, and unneeded ingredients are re-purposed or properly disposed of.Type: GrantFiled: April 4, 2023Date of Patent: March 26, 2024Assignee: Avery Dennison Retail Information Services LLCInventors: Jeanne Duckett, Michael Schaberl, Txus Carrion

Patent number: 11577875Abstract: A portable hybrid hand labeler is disclosed that relies on mechanical motion, which eliminates the need for motors and the corresponding energy required to run the motors. The portable hybrid hand labeler also houses an ink jet head and a digital print mechanism, which offers the user infinite print flexibility via downloadable print bands. The portable hybrid hand labeler is preferably battery driven, and comprises a unique drive system and mechanism to harvest the kinetic energy from the trigger pull and a display panel with a solar panel to collect solar energy to trickle charge the battery pack, thereby increasing usage time between charges.Type: GrantFiled: June 18, 2019Date of Patent: February 14, 2023Assignee: Avery Dennison Retail Information Services LLCInventors: Jeanne Duckett, Frederick Pou, Timothy Brown, Jesus Romo, Jr., Mark Morrow, Txus Carrion, Dee Sawyer, John Mistyurik, Leah Burch, John Gallant, Kartavyakumar Patel

Publication number: 20190354940Abstract: An automated method of tracing food products that are to be donated or disposed of and that is comprised of (1) the configuration and setup of an application for the food product items to be donated or disposed of; (2) the execution of the food product item donation or disposal event, wherein labels may be created with appropriate data about the food product and/or event printed thereon and/or the data captured in a data log; and (3) the viewing and/or extraction and further processing of the captured data from the data log of the updates to the food products that are being donated or disposed of. The method of the present invention may be used in conjunction with an intelligent printer, such as a RFID, QR code, or barcode printer.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 20, 2019Publication date: November 21, 2019Inventors: Jeanne DUCKETT, Txus CARRION, Michael SCHABERL, Susan DAUM, Lori PORTER
