  • Publication number: 20210162682
Abstract: Microstructure manufacturing apparatuses and methods are disclosed herein that enable the production of microstructures in an efficient, cost-effective manner that produces precise, high-quality microstructure products. In the manufacturing process for a microneedle array, for example, a template can be contacted against a surface of a continuous layer of a viscous polymer and separated from the surface to form a plurality of projections. The projections can then be solidified and later cut at a predetermined distance from the surface to form the microstructure.

  • Patent number: 8685425
Abstract: Microcapsules possessing Lewis acid-Lewis base salt walls incorporate water-immiscible materials, such as N,N-di-ethyl-m-toluamide (DEET), as a core component. Such microcapsules, or similar microcapsules incorporating other core components, may be made by emulsifying a water-immiscible core component in an aqueous solution of one wall-forming reactant, such as the Lewis base, and then mixing that solution with the other wall-forming reactant, such as the Lewis acid. Various adjuvants may be included with the core component to contribute additional characteristics, such as enhancement of a controlled release characteristic or improved mechanical stability.

  • Patent number: 5093198
Abstract: Improved sustained-release delivery forms comprising Lewis acid-Lewis base salt microparticulate material modified by the addition of at least one additional constituent known as an "adjuvant" selected from the group consisting of carbomers, poloxamers and tetronomers. Adjuvants may assist in the manufacture of the microparticle or may provide additional advantageous characteristics such as assisting in solubilizing a core material or forming of the microparticle wall or both. Adjuvant modified microparticles have improved controlled release characteristics, have greater mechanical and thermal stability and have increased capacity for a wide range of core materials.

  • Patent number: 4797234
Abstract: Sustained-released delivery forms comprising the reaction product of a Lewis acid salt with a Lewis base salt at the phase interface of their respective aqueous and non-aqueous solution to form an anisotropic high molecular weight salt of the acid and base and a neutral salt of the inorganic cation and anion in what is termed a "double decomposition" or "salt exchange" reaction.
