  • Publication number: 20190333047
Abstract: A dynamic transaction card and methods for providing improved security during transactions are described. The dynamic transaction card can attempt to connect wirelessly to a mobile device. The dynamic transaction card can then send a transaction request to a backend system, including whether the connection to the mobile device was successful. The backend system can then calculate a fraud score based on the connection response, among other things. The backend system may approve or deny the transaction request from the dynamic transaction card based on the fraud score.

  • Publication number: 20190332830
Abstract: A transaction card may monitor an amount of electric current induced in a first near-field communication (NFC) component of a transaction card. Electric current may be induced in the first NFC component when the first NFC component is within an electromagnetic field generated by a second NFC component of a transaction terminal. The transaction card may dynamically activate one or more output components associated with the transaction card based on the amount of electric current induced in the first NFC component. The one or more output components may indicate whether the transaction card can communicate with the transaction terminal. The transaction card may perform an action related to completing a transaction after determining that the amount of electric current induced in the NFC component satisfies a first threshold. The first threshold may indicate that the transaction card can communicate with the transaction terminal.

  • Patent number: 10459039
Abstract: Systems and methods for testing a light emitting display unit having a plurality of light emitting elements are disclosed. Embodiments include a system with a test module, the test module including a plurality of light detection elements. Each of the plurality of light detection elements may generate a signal upon detection of light emitted from a light emitting element. The test module may also include a circuit. The circuit may receive input signals from the plurality of light detection elements, process the input signals based on a pre-determined function of the circuit, and generate an aggregate output signal based on the processing of the input signals. The circuit may also process the input signals based on discrete implementation of a combinational logic. The circuit may further receive instructions determining the combinational logic to be implemented.

  • Patent number: 10453061
Abstract: A user device may detect at least one external device in communication range of the device, receive at least one external device identifier from the at least one external device, generate a transaction request comprising data describing a transaction to be processed and the at least one external device identifier, and send the transaction request to a transaction service for fulfillment. The transaction service may receive the transaction request, analyze the at least one external device identifier to identify at least one security factor associated with the at least one external device identifier, adjust a security score for the transaction based on the at least one security factor, and determine whether to process the transaction based on the adjusted security score.

  • Patent number: 10453054
Abstract: A transaction card includes a near-field communication (NFC) component, a security component, a wireless component, one or more memories, and one or more processors communicatively coupled to the one or more memories. The device receives a signal from a user device attempting to access a secure application, and energizes the NFC component based on the signal received from the user device. The device causes the security component to generate an encrypted code based on the NFC component being energized, and provides, via the security component, the encrypted code to the wireless component. The device provides, via the wireless component, the encrypted code to the user device to permit the user device to utilize the encrypted code as authentication for accessing the secure application.

  • Publication number: 20190311344
Abstract: A secure method of real time money transferring between account holders utilizes Near Field Communication (NFC) technologies, dynamic transaction cards, and a mobile application to facilitate a seamless mobile transfer of funds. The dynamic transaction card of the customer requesting to make the transfer of funds may be placed in contact with the second recipient dynamic transaction card of the customer receiving the funds transfer to establish an NFC connection. The dynamic transaction card requesting the transfer may receive, via the NFC antenna on the card, the recipient customer account information stored on a passive NFC tag. The dynamic transaction card requesting the transfer may transmit the recipient account information to a mobile application, which may transmit the recipient account information to an account provider system for facilitating the funds transfer.

  • Patent number: 10410461
Abstract: A dynamic transaction card with EuroPay-Mastercard-Visa (“EMV”) technology that includes an EMV interface connecting EMV contacts and an EMV processor to enable a multifunctional dynamic transaction card. A method of manufacturing a dynamic transaction card with an EMV interface connecting EMV contacts and an EMV processor. A dynamic transaction card with an EMV interface may be manufactured using a separate printed circuit board (PCB) layout with EMV contact patterns placed into the top surface of a molding to create the dynamic transaction card. The edges of the EMV contact patterns would be incorporated through holes, which are trimmed to scallops, to allow for surface mounting. The EMV interface may then include a connection between the EMV contact patterns and the EMV microprocessor such that the EMV microprocessor does not have to be placed directly beneath the EMV contact patterns.

  • Patent number: 10402708
Abstract: A transaction card may power on the transaction card using electric current induced from an interaction of the transaction card with an electromagnetic field. The transaction card may establish a communication with a device. The communication may indicate that the transaction card has powered. The transaction card may receive, from the device, a set of instructions to configure a set of applets on the transaction card after notifying the device that the transaction card has powered on. The set of applets to be configured may be related to completing one or more different transactions. The set of applets to be configured may be different than another set of applets already configured on the transaction card. The transaction card may configure the set of applets on the transaction card according to the set of instructions after receiving the set of instructions.
