  • Publication number: 20240398061
Abstract: A variable friction shoe includes a midsole and an outsole. The outsole includes at least a first high-friction surface and at least a first low-friction surface, wherein the first low-friction surface remains prominent if vertical ground reaction forces (GRFs) are low and wherein the high-friction surface is prominent in response to increasing GRFs.
    Type: Application
    Filed: August 9, 2024
    Publication date: December 5, 2024
Inventors: Tyler SUSKO, Elliot HAWKES, Erinn SLOAN, Matthew Ryan DEVLIN
  • Publication number: 20240373982
Abstract: According to one aspect, a variable friction shoe sole includes a midsole body, one or more compressible portions comprised of a compressible material, one or more low-friction portions vertically aligned with the one or more compressible portions, and one or more intermediate layers located between the one or more low-friction portions and the one or more compressible portions. The one or more low-friction portions are prominent of the midsole body when vertical ground reaction forces (GRFs) applied to the variable friction shoe sole are low, and wherein an increase in GRFs compresses the one or more compressible portions and causes the one or more low-friction portions to retract inwards.
    Type: Application
    Filed: September 29, 2022
    Publication date: November 14, 2024
Applicant: The Regents of the University of California
Inventors: Tyler Susko, Elliot Hawkes, Stuart Jenkins
  • Patent number: 12082641

  • Patent number: 11771944
Abstract: A free-standing retractable exercise system. The exercise system includes a base assembly and one or more exercise benches that extend away from an upright position to an extended position for use and retract into the upright position for storage. A pin releasably maintains the exercise system in the upright position and a distal leg maintains the exercise system in the extended position.
    Type: Grant

  • Publication number: 20220268618
Abstract: A water monitoring device includes a housing, a graduated tube, a magnet, and a flow sensor. The graduated tube is positioned inside the housing and has a longitudinal axis and an inlet diameter less than an outlet diameter. The magnet is positioned within the graduated tube and configured to translate along the longitudinal axis of the graduated tube. The flow sensor is mounted within the housing and outside the graduated tube. The flow sensor is configured to detect the magnet and the position of the magnet along the longitudinal axis of the graduated tube correlates to a flow level through the water monitoring device.
