Abstract: A fixed lighting assembly that is able to change between configurations, including from a floodlight to a spotlight and any configuration in between, allows for a substantial improvement in performance and safety of a vehicle. Additionally, the fixed lighting assembly includes the capability for the light beam to move across one or more axis to steer the light to a desired direction without the use of moving parts. Instead, the steering is performed using lenses, strategically placed LEDs, optics, and associated drivers to illuminate different areas and create a variety of beam shapes. Additionally, the brightness or intensity of the beam can also be changed without using moving parts. A control module may be used to automatically configure these changes. The fixed lighting assembly may be manually controlled to change to one or more preconfigured modes, such as a spotlight mode, flood light mode, landing mode, taxiing mode, etc.

Abstract: A system for controlling lighting on an aircraft, the system comprising a number of sensors, a number of aircraft lights, and a processor. The sensors are configured to detect states of the aircraft. The processor is communicatively coupled with the aircraft lights and is configured to determine that a condition is met according to one of the states detected by one of the plurality of sensors and automatically turn on one of the plurality of aircraft lights when the condition is met.

Abstract: An integrated system for coordinating a web site with a web browser using a storage medium which is local to the user, such that the user may interactively obtain information specified on the web site without experiencing great delays. A user having a browser also has access to a local storage medium, such as a CD-ROM, which contains information specified on the web site which requires long transmission times over public telephone lines. When the user requests information, if the server determines that the requested information is located on the CD-ROM, the user's browser retrieves the data from the CD-ROM rather than from the website, thus greatly shortening the time necessary for the user to access the information. Access to the CD-ROM may also be protected by password or encryption, so that the user must submit- appropriate payment before being permitted to access the information.
