Publication number: 20220074282Abstract: A waterflood completion system usable in a well includes a mandrel disposed on a tubing string deployable down a borehole. The mandrel has a side pocket with one or more ports for communicating the tubing string with an annulus of the borehole A waterflood regulator arrangement is connected to the mandrel and has at least one screen directly included therein spaced from the mandrel and lying adjacent the tubing string.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 21, 2010Publication date: March 10, 2022Inventors: Chris Li, Tyson R. Messick, Wayne Mabry

Patent number: 9416885Abstract: Low profile valves are described. In an embodiment, a tubular member for fluid transport has a valve constructed within a wall of the tubular member for controlling a radial flow of fluid, such as water, oil, or gas, through the wall without impeding the flow of fluid or tools through the tubular member or near the exterior of the tubular member. The low profile valve may be used, for example, in the oil and gas industries as a pressure relief valve or check valve. When used as a pressure relief valve, a load member such as a spring, strap, or rocker arm maintains a backpressure on the valve. Example low profile valves can provide flow control from within a very thin annulus between other components.Type: GrantFiled: May 25, 2012Date of Patent: August 16, 2016Assignee: Schlumberger Technology CorporationInventors: Cameron Andersen, Jared Mangum, Garth L. Mason, Kenneth John Stoddard, Tyson R. Messick

Publication number: 20140352982Abstract: A gas lift barrier valve mandrel assembly includes a longitudinally extending tubular member that defines a production conduit and has a central longitudinal axis. A side pocket mandrel has a first pocket for accepting a gas lift barrier valve and has a first central axis. The side pocket mandrel has a second pocket for accepting a gas lift barrier valve and has a second central axis. The central axis of the production conduit, first axis and second axis are non-coaxial and are parallel to one another. A passage fluidly connects an outside of the mandrel to an inside of the production conduit and is intersected by the first and second pockets.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 5, 2014Publication date: December 4, 2014Inventors: Thomas M. White, Wayne J. Mabry, Jason Michael Kamphaus, Tyson R. Messick, Eric Lovie, Kenneth C. Burnett

Patent number: 8225874Abstract: An apparatus that is usable with a well includes a gas lift valve and an isolation member. The gas lift valve includes a valve element that is located between an annulus and a passageway of a tubing. The valve element is adapted to selectively open and close to control fluid communication through the valve element. The isolation member is adapted to in a first state, isolate the valve element from at least one of the annulus and the passageway and in a second state, permit fluid communication between the valve element and the annulus or passageway.Type: GrantFiled: January 7, 2010Date of Patent: July 24, 2012Assignee: Schlumberger Technology CorporationInventors: Tyson R. Messick, Thomas M. White, Kenneth C. Burnett, III

Patent number: 7549849Abstract: A pumping system including a first section and a second section. The first section includes a first housing having an axial bore formed therethrough and a protruding member formed on one end of the first housing, and a first shaft arranged within the axial bore of the first housing. The second section include a second housing having an axial bore formed therethrough and a recess formed on one end of the second housing for receiving the protruding member of the first housing, and a second shaft arranged within the axial bore of the second housing. An apparatus for compensating oil volume change in a motor, including a compensator housing having an open end for connecting to the motor, and a closed end; and a flexible bladder arranged within the housing and connected to the open end of the housing.Type: GrantFiled: January 4, 2006Date of Patent: June 23, 2009Assignee: Schlumberger Technology CorporationInventors: Arthur I. Patent number: 6932581Abstract: A gas lift valve that is usable with a subterranean well includes a housing, a valve stem and at least one bellows. The housing has a port that is in communication with a first fluid, and the valve stem is responsive to the first fluid to establish a predefined threshold to open the valve. The bellow(s) form a seal between the valve stem and the housing. The bellow(s) are subject to a force that is exerted by the first fluid; and a second fluid contained in the bellow(s) opposes the force that is exerted by the first fluid.Type: GrantFiled: March 21, 2003Date of Patent: August 23, 2005Assignee: Schlumberger Technology CorporationInventor: Tyson R.
