Publication number: 20250195187Abstract: A devices and systems for removing dental plaque/oral biofilms from a target surface or all surfaces of a tooth contains a socket head, a socket ball, and a pair of opposing bilateral wings. The socket ball is mounted in a joint-housing of the socket head, forming a ball-and-socket joint. The bilateral wings are connected to the socket head and extend downwardly. Each wing may include one or more cleaning elements, such as water cannons, water cannon folds, mega-/micro-nipples, and/or mega-/micro-nipple coupled water cannons. A system containing the device typically includes one or more additional components configured to incorporate the device into an element for user operation and link the device to a flow path, providing a fluid/air flow path for supplying a liquid and/or air to the device.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 8, 2023Publication date: June 19, 2025Applicant: The University of Hong KongInventors: Tze Chuen NG, Lijian JIN, James Kit Hon TSOI

Patent number: 11944536Abstract: A tricuspid valve apparatus may include a frame and an associated neo-prosthetic valve. The frame acts as a stabilizing structure that extends cephalad into the morphologic or functional right atrium (upstream) and caudally into the morphologic or functional right ventricle (downstream). The frame comprises a strutted atrial dome that conforms to the atrium without obstruction of blood flow from the incoming great veins (i.e. superior vena cava and inferior vena cava) or other anomalous veins and/or tributaries. The frame further comprises ventricular struts to be placed within the right ventricle to secure the neo-prosthetic valve in a desired position. The assembly of the frame and valve is collapsible so that prior to deployment the assembly is placed in a vascular catheter, and then self-expands upon release in the heart.Type: GrantFiled: August 11, 2020Date of Patent: April 2, 2024Assignee: The Chinese University of Hong KongInventors: Erik Yee Mun George Fung, Tze Chuen Ng, Philip Wai Yan Chiu

Patent number: 11767651Abstract: One example embodiment is a waste collection and storage device, comprising: (a) a disposable container with a body and a base; (b) a plurality of panels extended from the base, each of the panels has a panel distal end extending away from the body, the panel distal ends of the panels pointing inwardly and defining an opening therebetween in an open state; and (c) at least one locking mechanism disposed on at least one of the panels. When a force is applied on the body to the panel distal ends against a target surface having a waste, the panel distal ends move inwards towards each other and in turn close up the opening to form a closed state, and the body and the panels together create a cavity, such that the waste can be scooped up from the target surface and accommodated within the cavity. The locking mechanism locks the panels in the closed state to store the waste within the cavity. Other example embodiments are described herein.Type: GrantFiled: May 7, 2021Date of Patent: September 26, 2023Assignee: NGspiraGold Enterprises Company LimitedInventors: Tze Chuen Ng, Hok Kai Samuel Choi, To Wai Li

Patent number: 11234802Abstract: A toothbrush includes a head with a new design and a handle that operates to move the head. The toothbrush head has multiple types of purpose-designed bristle-bundles precisely mapped to target specifically all dental-gingival surfaces and anatomically niches, including various dead-corner niches/surfaces that are usually not accessible by currently existing toothbrushes. Each cluster of bristle-bundles contains bristles of different sizes, diameters, hardness, lengths, angulations and colors. The head is designed to be inclined to accommodate both lingual and palatal surfaces. This toothbrush head also functions uniquely by coupling over dental arches and rotating so that the brush does not need to be lifted during movement from one end to the other. Further, moving the handle with respect to the brush head causes the width of the brush head to change to accommodate the different widths of the teeth along the dental arch.Type: GrantFiled: February 2, 2018Date of Patent: February 1, 2022Assignee: THE UNIVERSITY OF HONG KONGInventors: Tze Chuen Ng, Lijian Jin

Publication number: 20200046459Abstract: Channels in a root canal of a decayed tooth are scaled with a Gutta Percha (GP) mini pellet located at the apical tip of the channel and tubular GP at the side channels. Thermostatic heat and/or ultrasonic vibration can be applied during placement. Further, real time x-rays can be taken to guide the placement and even to at least in part automate the process.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 17, 2019Publication date: February 13, 2020Applicant: THE UNIVERSITY OF HONG KONGInventors: Tze Chuen NG, Chengfei ZHANG

Publication number: 20100266983Abstract: A screw tap type device for loosening or extracting a wisdom tooth is provided. The device comprises a screw tap with a plurality of longitudinal cavities in the external screw thread, creating cutting teeth which create a strong frictional grip with a rough dentine wall of a previously drilled tapered tunnel of a wisdom tooth. A user can then twist the device to exert axial bodily dislocating force for easy loosening or extraction of the wisdom tooth.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 29, 2010Publication date: October 21, 2010Inventors: Tze Chuen Ng, Sui Man Ko
