  • Patent number: 10045835
Abstract: Tooth attachments are provided comprising one or more convex surfaces for engagement by a surface of an orthodontic appliance. Polymeric shell appliances are provided in which the polymeric shell appliances are configured to provide one or more activation forces to facilitate tooth movement. The polymeric shell appliances may comprise one or more tooth receiving cavities. The polymeric shell appliances may further comprise an engagement portion with a surface configured to engage a convex attachment surface in order to apply a tooth moving force.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 17, 2016
Date of Patent: August 14, 2018
    Assignee: Align Technology, Inc.

  • Publication number: 20160242870
Abstract: Orthodontic systems and related methods are disclosed for designing and providing improved or more effective tooth moving systems for eliciting a desired tooth movement and/or repositioning teeth into a desired arrangement. Methods and orthodontic systems include the generation of an overcorrection in the tooth-receiving cavities of an appliance worn in the dentition. The overcorrection may provide an improved and more accurately applied force or moment applied to a tooth. The overcorrected force or moment can move a tooth closer to a desired position than if not overcorrected as sufficient force can still applied to the tooth as it gets closer to the desired position. The overcorrected force or moment may also better target the root of the tooth where the biological response to tooth movement occurs. The overcorrection may be calculated in various ways as described herein.

  • Patent number: 8696714
Abstract: Posterior spinal stabilization devices that engage vertebral structures of at least two verterbrae and increase the stability between the two vertebrae. In some embodiments the stabilization devices engage laminae of at least two vertebrae. The devices can be adapted, however, to engage at least one of a variety of vertebral structures (e.g., spinous process, lamina, transverse process, etc.) of a plurality of vertebrae to decrease vertebral motion between at least two vertebrae.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 30, 2008
Date of Patent: April 15, 2014
Assignee: The Board of Trustees of the Leland Stanford Junior University
Inventors: Jongsoo Park, Tzishing Jesse Lim
