  • Publication number: 20050068938
Abstract: Disclosed invention is a consumer telephone system (the iCord telephone) that globally extends the range of cordless telephones by using the Internet to securely connect a cordless base station to multiple cordless handsets/phones. An iCord phone user can receive or make PSTN calls on the same iCord base station from anywhere that has Internet connectivity for one's iCord handset. The iCord system can page and carry on a VoIP conversation with any iCord handset registered on the same iCord base station without incurring PSTN telephone call charge. In addition, an iCord handset can simultaneously register and securely connect with multiple iCord base stations over the Internet. Thus an iCord handset user, from anywhere over the Internet, can receive or make PSTN phone calls from, for example, either office, home or friend's iCord base stations with the same iCord handset. Multiple iCord base stations can also set up as a private phone network over the Internet.

  • Publication number: 20030041108
Abstract: A system and method are disclosed for enhancing a conversation initiated over the Internet, Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN), wireless cellular or data networks, or other communication medium by adding peer-to-peer collaborative Internet browsing to the conversation. In a preferred embodiment, the present system comprises a Web server used to set up a collaborative browsing session where each participant enters a common session name and user identity and client software components resident on the devices of each session participant. Each client software component comprises a monitoring module that is adapted to analyze HTTP requests from a first participant's browser and generate a set of instructions that is transmitted to other participants' devices to duplicate the first participant's browsing experience for the other participants.

  • Patent number: 6515994
Abstract: A method of communication in a communications network permitting efficient asynchronous file transfer from a server to a multiplicity of clients. The method is adaptable to future multicasting, telecommunications and file transfer protocols and provides the benefit of decreased communications network traffic relative to prior art methods with a corresponding savings of server, transmission link, router and router network resources. The method provides for sequential transmission of a dataset in discrete blocks over a single data connection spanning the router network. The method includes subsequent joining of destinations to a transmission already in progress. Each subsequently joined destination begins reception of blocks with the next sequentially transmitted block and continues to receive blocks until all blocks in the dataset have been received.

  • Patent number: 5757900
Abstract: In a telecommunications network, a method is provided for reading a desired telephone data record associated with a given telephone number from a line record database. Initially, a data processor reads data from an accessing data record stored in an index database. The accessing data record contains at least an accessing number designating a series of telephone numbers including the given telephone number, a pointer pointing to a data cluster in the line record database, and a blocking factor associated with the data cluster. The data cluster comprises a plurality of data nodes and includes all of the telephone data records associated with the series of telephone numbers designated by the accessing number. Each data node contains a number of individual telephone data records up to the blocking factor and a number of pointers each pointing to one of the number of individual telephone data records. The data processor accesses a data cluster based on the data read from the index database.

  • Patent number: 5592672
Abstract: A service control point having multiple independent control processor and multiple front end communication processors incorporates a deterministic rule message distribution process for balancing the traffic load among the front end processors from all the independent control processors. The deterministic rule method is applied independently in each control processor and queues all outgoing messages in one of three queues; those that must be transmitted on Linkset-0, those that must be transmitted on Linkset-1, and those that can be transmitted on either linkset. Our message distribution process keeps all messages in queue until message number or timer threshold is reached. The traffic is routed to a front end processor such that the resulting distribution is closest to the expected distribution.
