  • Patent number: 6846275
Abstract: A passive repeating plyometric muscle strengthening method and an apparatus for the method, wherein, the amplitude and frequency of up and down moving of the pedal can be adjusted, a trainee is continuously born with a load for exercising in a passive mode to do a plyometric and eccentric contraction muscle training in a short time with a large amount of acting units. Combination of the eccentric contraction and the concentric contraction for muscle training can enhance muscle strength and power, and danger resided in pure muscle training with eccentric contraction can be reduced thereby, a larger effect of muscle training can be obtained to meet the requirement of high acting-speed movements in practical competitions. The method can excite large amount of acting units of a human body in a very short moment. The elastic components in the muscle organization are sufficiently used to make muscle contraction able to generate larger strength and power. The effect of increasing the power is evident.

  • Publication number: 20040266566
Abstract: A swing-and-hit device for ball games includes a handle portion, a barrel portion having a predetermined length for swinging and hitting a ball or the like, and a substance having a property of dynamic moment of inertia being disposed in the swing-and-hit device close to the handle portion. The substance is located close to the handle portion when the swing-and-hit device is normally raised before being swung to hit a ball or the like, and moves toward an impact spot on the barrel portion due to the dynamic moment of inertia when the device is swung to hit the ball or the like. The swing-and-hit device for ball games loaded with the substance having the property of dynamic moment of inertia enables faster swing velocity, reduced muscle-exerted strength, increased effective impact energy, and better cushion effect to avoid possible sport-caused injury due to vibration of the swing-and-hit device after impact.

  • Publication number: 20040009854
Abstract: An apparatus for enhancing muscle strength is designed based on a curve of relation between joint angle and producible muscle strength, and includes a resistance-varying device that provides progressive resistances to give a trainee's body area being trained the most suitable load when the joint angle at the trained area changes. The resistance-varying device is embodied through serially connected four-bar linkages, two-bar linkages, or tension cords pivotally connected to one lateral side of weights of the apparatus with pins. Strength exerted by the trainee at the trained area is transmitted via a steel cord to pull a top weight upward and sequentially stretch the linkages or tension cords open, so that subsequent weights are pulled upward one by one until the last linkage or tension cord is fully stretched. A method using the apparatus to enhance muscle strength meets the human engineering and avoids unwanted injury of trained muscles.
