Abstract: Methods and apparatus, including computer program products, are provided for user interfaces. In one aspect, there is provided a method. The method may include generating a virtual desktop including a plurality of objects organized in accordance with at least one of a theme and a structure; providing a navigation pane on the virtual desktop to navigate through the plurality of objects; and providing a controller to enable a multi-level zoom on at least one of the plurality of objects on the virtual desktop. Related systems, methods, and articles of manufacture are also disclosed.

Abstract: A conversation GUI may include a canvas, a feed section, and a process section. The canvas may present icons associated with documents uploaded by members of a conversation associated with the GUI, the members including a local user of the local computing system and remote users of remote computing systems, the canvas being located in a fixed section of the conversation GUI. The feed section may present messages sent by the local user and by the remote members. The process may be separate from the canvas and the feed section and include at least a first task and a second task associated with a specified process. A computing system may, upon completion of the first task, send a message to the local user indicating that the first task is complete and the second task is to be performed.

Abstract: A method of handling different languages in an object, such as a business object includes receiving a language selection indication within a business object instance interface. Data within the business object is displayed for at least one data field in the selected language. Edited data for at least one data field within the business object is received, and other language versions of the edited data in the at least one data field may be modified.

Abstract: Example systems and methods of semantic zooming in a user interface are presented. In one implementation, a display including a plurality of non-overlapping regions is presented. A user selection of a first region presenting a first amount of information is received. In response to the user selection, the selected first region is enlarged, and a second amount of information greater than the first amount of information is presented in the first region. At least one remaining region is reduced in size so that the regions continue to be non-overlapping.

Abstract: Example systems and methods of semantic zooming of data object representations in a user interface are presented. In one implementation, a first graphical representation is presented for display. The first graphical representation represents a data object and presents first information associated with the data object. A user input indicating a zoom-in operation is received. In response to the user input, the first graphical representation is replaced with a second graphical representation representing the first data object is presented for display. The second graphical representation presents second information that includes more information than the first information.

Abstract: A compass menu is generated as a graphical user interface for an application of a computer. The graphical user interface has a compass structure with at least four branches adjacent to a central button. The graphical user interface receives a user selection on the compass structure. A menu is generated based on the user selection on the compass structure and a context of the application. The menu is displayed adjacent to the compass structure.

A placement of first and second icon symbols in at least one of the presentation areas is received. The first and second icon symbols represent first and second objects, respectively, of a computer program. A placement of a navigation symbol is received. The navigation symbol represents a navigation between the first and second objects. Markup language code is provided for a prototype page. The code includes location indicating code corresponding to the distribution of presentation areas. The code includes picture code for first and second pictures corresponding to the first and second icon symbols, respectively. The markup language code further includes interaction code corresponding to the navigation symbol. The prototype page is capable of simulating the navigation between the first and second objects in the computer program.

Abstract: Techniques are disclosed for interacting with a user entering information for a computer application. In one general aspect, the invention provides for displaying a pane as a user interface for a user to enter information in a sequence of steps. The pane includes an information entry area, an interactive first step symbol capable of initiating a first step in the sequence, and a first indicator placed after the first step symbol. The first indicator indicates that a selection of a step to follow the first step depends on information received in the first step. A second step is selected to follow the first step using information received in the first step, and the first indicator is removed. An interactive second step symbol capable of initiating the second step is placed after the first step symbol.

Abstract: A method and system are provided for implementing a mass data change tool to update the column data for the selected rows in a table presented in the graphical user interface of a software application. The mass data change tool may include an additional row, a mass data change row, in the table and an initiation means to trigger the mass data change. The additional mass data change row may contain input fields for one more columns of the table for which mass data updating is provided. These input fields may be used to specify valid field values to update the selected rows of the table. The initiation means may be a button or other graphical icon in the additional mass data change row of the table. The initiation means for the mass data change tool may include any known initiation means such as a pull-down menu option or button on the graphical user interface.

Abstract: Techniques are disclosed for displaying information to a user on a display device of a computer system. In one general aspect, a first view is displayed on the display device, where the first view has a plurality of objects in a first format and a first object control mechanism. An input is received to minimize the first view, and in response thereto a second view is displayed on the display device. The second view includes a second object control mechanism and one or more objects that are a subset of the plurality of objects in a second format. The second view may include, from the objects displayed in the first view, only those objects contained in the subset of the plurality of objects.
