  • Patent number: 6925718
Abstract: A tool head for a motor-driven, manually guided implement for receiving a rotatable cutter tool is provided. The tool head comprises a housing in which is provided a tool shaft that is rotatably mounted via bearings. Secured on the tool shaft so as to turn with it is a tool carrying mechanism for the cutter tool. This tool carrying mechanism includes an engagement plate having an engagement surface, which is oriented perpendicular to the axis of the shaft, and a centering shoulder. The engagement plate and a centering element having the centering shoulder are embodied as separate components. The engagement plate is of light weight construction and is positively connected with the tool shaft. The centering element is made of a material, the hardness of which is adapted to the cutter tool.

  • Publication number: 20030051351
    Abstract: A cutting assembly (10) of a chain saw (1) includes a saw chain (2) having chain links (3, 4, 5) pivotally connected to each other as well as a guide bar (6) for guiding the saw chain (2) along a peripherally extending edge (7, 8, 9). The cutting assembly (10) includes rubbing pairs (11, 11′, 12, 12′, 13, 13′, 14) forming sliding surfaces (15, 15′, 16, 16′, 17). At least one slide surface (15, 15′, 16, 16′, 17) of a rubbing pair (11, 11′, 12, 12′, 13, 13′, 14) is configured so as to be textured for causing the lubricant film (18) to adhere.

  • Patent number: 5655304
Abstract: A guide bar for a motor chain saw has a guide bar member having a peripheral guide groove and peripheral shoulders for guiding a saw chain in the peripheral direction of the guide bar member. The drive members of the saw chain engage the guide groove and the lateral connecting members of the saw chain are guided on the shoulders. Wear protectors, made of a material that is more wear-resistant than the guide bar member, are provided. The wear protectors are connected to the peripheral shoulders so as to extend at least over a portion of the guide bar member in the peripheral direction. Each wear protector has a first wear surface facing the drive members of the saw chain and a second wear surface facing the lateral connecting members of the saw chain. At least one of the first and second wear surfaces of each wear protector has at least one peripheral recess extending in the peripheral direction.

  • Patent number: 5407496
Abstract: A method for the production of a slideway-type guide for driven chains such as cutting chains includes the application of a wear-resistant hard metal alloy as a running surface to the slideway of the guide. A bar-shaped blank with a dentritic structure, made from the alloy, is produced to form the running surface, a suction casting process being used in particular for this purpose. The blank is treated by hot isostatic pressing with high pressure at a high temperature. This is followed by an annealing process over a number of hours, at the end of which the structure of the alloy is so altered that the previously acicular and, to some extent, lattice-type carbides are dispersed and converted to rounded and, to some extent, spheroidal bodies which are densely and evenly distributed throughout the alloy. The alloy thereby becomes highly wear-resistant. The bars are then shaped so as to fit onto the slideway, and are fixedly connected thereto.
