    Abstract: The invention relates to a device and a method for disinfecting a milking component, said device comprising a container for storing a disinfectant base material, and a processing unit. Said processing unit can be used to produce a disinfectant containing chlorine dioxide, from the disinfectant base material by means of a chemical reaction. A guiding element is used to bring the disinfectant into contact with the milking component, essentially directly after being produced, in order to disinfect the milking component.
