  • Patent number: 4747384
Abstract: A fuel injection system for internal combustion systems is proposed, which serves to inject fuel into the intake tube of the engine. The fuel injection system includes at least one fuel injection valve which is disposed in the interior of a holder and communicates with both a fuel supply line and a fuel drainage line. The inflow of fuel into the fuel injection valve takes place radially via an inflow region. An orifice body is secured in the holder, forming a reservoir preceding the inflow region. In the first few seconds after hot starting of the engine, only the fuel stored in the reservoir reaches the inflow region and hence is injected. Because readily volatile fuel components have evaporated beforehand, the fuel stored in the reservoir enables especially good fuel preparation.

  • Patent number: 4678124
Abstract: An electromagnetically actuatable valve, in particular a fuel injection valve for fuel injection systems, which serves to supply fuel to internal combustion engines. The fuel injection valve comprises a valve chamber and a core upon which a magnet coil is wound by use of a carrier body. A flat armature is constructed in such a manner at its side facing core that it partially overlaps the front surface of a ferromagnetic valve chamber with its outer range of action so that the magnet circuit is guided to the flat armature via valve chamber and the front face and so that magnetic coil, when actuated, simultaneously serves as a detent for the flat armature.

  • Patent number: 4597558
Abstract: An electromagnetically actuatable valve is proposed, which serves in particular to inject fuel into the intake tube of internal combustion engines having fuel injection systems. The fuel injection valve includes a valve housing, a core having a magnetic coil and an armature, which is guided by a guide diaphragm and is firmly connected to a bearing tube. Protruding into the bearing tube is a spherical pivot segment of a valve member, which is on the one hand partially surrounded and engaged by a pan-shaped segment of the bearing tube and on the other hand is axially fixed by means of a retainer ring. Joined to the pivot segment is an elongation segment, on the other end of which a spherical sealing segment is secured, and which is further radially guided by means of a guide ring and thereby cooperates with a valve seat in a nozzle body. Since the pivot segment is pivotably supported in the bearing tube, shear forces at the armature have no effect on the sealing segment.

  • Patent number: 4555060
Abstract: An electromagnetically actuatable valve which serves in particular to inject fuel into the intake tube of internal combustion engines operating with fuel injection systems. The fuel injection valve includes a valve housing, a shell core having a magnetic winding and a flat armature, which is firmly connected with a valve element which passes through a central guide opening in a guide diaphragm and cooperates with a fixed valve seat. The guide diaphragm has a fastening zone and together with the central guide opening cut out of a centering zone of the guide diaphragm guides the valve element in the radial direction toward the valve seat. The fastening zone is connected via struts with an annular guide zone on which the flat armature, under spring tension, rests with a concentric guide edge and is guided in a plane parallel to the end face of the shell core. The centering zone of the guide diaphragm is connected in turn via struts with the guide zone.

The valve includes a valve housing and a core of ferromagnetic material, as well as an armature which actuates a valve element cooperating with a fixed valve seat. When the magnetic coil is excited, the armature is attracted toward a stop face on the valve housing and is in contact there with an effective zone on the armature. The armature and the valve housing are formed of low-carbon steel, and both the stop face and at least the outer effective zone of the armature are provided with wear-resistant surfaces. The wear-resistant surfaces may be attained by nickel plating or by nitration.

  • Patent number: 4502632
Abstract: An electromagnetically actuatable valve is proposed which serves in particular to inject fuel into the intake tube of internal combustion engine operating with fuel injection systems. The fuel injection valve includes a valve housing, a shell core having a magnetic coil and a flat armature, which is positively connected to a valve element comprising a ball which protrudes through a central opening in a guide diaphragm to cooperate with a fixed valve seat. The guide diaphragm guides the ball in the radial direction relative to the valve seat. Under spring tension, the flat armature, having a guide crown, contacts the guide diaphragm and is thus guided in a plane parallel to the end face of the shell core. A first fuel fitting comprises a portion of a valve housing preshaped by a non-cutting manufacturing method; a second fuel fitting is fixed inside the first fuel fitting in such a manner that a flow conduit is defined between the first and the second fuel fittings.

  • Patent number: 4483484
Abstract: An electromagnetically actuatable fuel injection valve for fuel injection systems comprises a valve casing and a first connecting pipe which serves as a magnetic core over which a solenoid winding is disposed. A second connecting pipe is disposed interiorly to the first connecting pipe, the two pipes in combination forming a flow channel for the inflowing fuel. Flow of the fuel is facilitated through a connecting or communicating opening and a blind bore into an interior cavity of valve casing, when it flows further either via an interior bore of the first connecting pipe and a bore of the second connecting pipe. From there the fuel can proceed onward to a return flow line, or else, when the solenoid winding is energized and the valve passage between the seat and head is open, the fluid can be metered through fuel passages and injected from a preparation bore.

  • Patent number: 4477027
Abstract: An electromagnetically actuatable valve which serves in particular to inject fuel into the intake tube of internal combustion engines operating with fuel injection. The fuel injection valve includes a valve housing, a shell core with a magnetic winding, and a flat armature which is firmly connected to a valve element having a tubular section and a spherical section. A guide diaphragm attached to the housing engages a guide edge of the flat armature in an elastic manner and guides the flat armature parallel to the end face of the shell core. The coaxial guidance of the spherical section relative to the valve seat is effected by means of guide faces of a guide ring. As a result, the movable valve element can have an elongated embodiment, and the fuel injection can be effected at any desired location of the intake tube, while the valve simultaneously requires little installation space.

  • Patent number: 4471914
Abstract: An electromagnetically actuatable valve, in particular a fuel injection valve for fuel injection systems. The valve includes a valve housing of ferromagnetic material and a core on which a magnetic coil is placed. An intermediate disk of ferromagnetic material is disposed on the end face of the cup-like valve housing. The passage bore has a lesser diameter than the inner bore of the valve housing. A flat armature partially protrudes beyond the stop face of the intermediate disk remote from the valve housing and again has a smaller diameter than the inner bore of the valve housing. Because of the small diameter of the flat armature, the flat armature has a small mass, so that short switching times of the valve are attainable.

  • Patent number: 4455982
Abstract: An electromagnetically actuatable fuel injection valve for delivering fuel in internal combustion engines comprises a valve casing and an electromagnet core on which a coil carrier carrying a solenoid winding is mounted. The fuel inflow via the feed pipe can be directed past the armature and ejected via the valve seat, fuel passage and preparation bore. The solenoid wind is disposed in the interior cavity of the valve casing in such a manner that fluid can circulate thereabout. A blind bore in the valve casing serves as an accumulator for vapor-bubbles in the fuel which may flow back to the feed pipe via an exhaust line which connects with an annular groove and an exhaust outlet.

  • Patent number: 4436071
Abstract: An electromagnetically actuatable valve, especially an injection valve for fuel injection systems which supply internal combustion engines with fuel, is proposed in which the fuel injection valve encompasses a valve chamber and a core upon which a magnetic coil is mounted by means of a carrier body. Fuel supply openings discharge into a flow passage provided around the magnetic coil. Vapor bubbles dissolved in the fuel may be flushed out of the flow passage via a first restriction into fuel return openings which communicate with a fuel return line. On the other hand, the fuel may flow from the flow passage into the collecting chamber which houses a valve component and a valve seat. Vapor bubbles which may appear near the valve component may be flushed out via a second restriction which is provided in the interior of a core to reach the fuel return openings. Thus, disturbances with fuel injection, especially during the "hot start" of the internal combustion engine, are avoided.

  • Patent number: 4325253
Abstract: A temperature-dependent resistor is embodied as a hot wire and secured by support elements in a probe ring. At least one of the support elements has a contact area having the smallest possible cross section on which a hot wire securing portion is defined. The hot wire is secured to the contact area at the securing portion. The contact area may be embodied, for example, as sharp-pointed or cylindrical and cause a minimum possible conduction of heat away from the hot wire along the support element, so that even during a glow burnoff process the entire hot wire length, up to the securing portion is burned free of deposits and thus continuously satisfactory functioning of the air flow rate meter is assured.
