  • Patent number: 5045965
Abstract: A capacitor winding is integrated in a metallic housing that is closed in a moisture-tight and gas-tight manner by a cover. Spaced bushings are connected to and extend through the cover. The cover has the shape of a spherical cap with an outwardly directed arch.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 29, 1989
Date of Patent: September 3, 1991
    Assignee: Siemens Aktiengesellschaft
    Inventors: Ferdinand Utner, Udo Hieber
  • Patent number: 4974116
Abstract: A wound electrical capacitor, particularly a power capacitor, that is integrated in a housing together with an over-pressure breakaway fuse that is composed of an electrical current conductor having a rated break point arranged at least partially in a hollow tube, and whereby the current conductor is releasably secured to an inwardly-arced floor upon interposition of an insulator.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 12, 1989
Date of Patent: November 27, 1990
    Assignee: Siemens Aktiengesellschaft
    Inventors: Ferdinand Utner, Udo Hieber
  • Patent number: 4577257
Abstract: An electric capacitor includes a housing having an inwardly-arched, substantially spherical, dome-shaped bottom membrane, a capacitor winding disposed in the housing, an excessive-pressure protection safety device disposed in the housing in vicinity of the bottom membrane, a central core tube disposed in the winding, and an insulating disc disposed between the winding and the bottom membrane, the disc having at least two parts and including an extension protruding into the central core tube.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 9, 1984
Date of Patent: March 18, 1986
    Assignee: Siemens Aktiengesellschaft
    Inventors: Werner Erhardt, Udo Hieber
  • Patent number: 4296453
Abstract: A wound electrical capacitor, particularly a power capacitor provided with an excess-pressure break-away structure employing a tubular shaped electric conductor which forms the electric supply line to the capacitor winding and which is disposed within the housing. The conductor has a predetermined break point at which it will break under a tension load applied to it over the housing bottom and a tensioning device, in the presence of an excessive pressure within the housing. The invention is particularly suitable for employment in oil-impregnated, regeneratable power capacitors.
