Abstract: Mixtures of dye precursors which contain (a) the lactone of 2-carboxy-4,4'-bisdimethylaminobenzhydrol (I) and (b) crystal violet lactone and/or one or more fluoran lactones of the formula ##STR1## where R.sup.1 is alkyl, R.sup.2 is alkyl, phenalkyl, unsubstituted or substituted phenyl or cycloalkyl, or ##STR2## is pyrrolidinyl, piperidinyl or morpholinyl, R.sup.3 is H or tert.-butyl, R.sup.4 is H or methyl, R.sup.5 is H, alkyl or phenalkyl and R.sup.6 is H, alkyl, phenalkyl, cycloalkyl or unsubstituted or substituted phenyl, or ##STR3## is pyrrolidinyl, piperidinyl or morpholinyl, possess improved lightfastness in pressure-sensitive recording systems.

Abstract: A compound useful for dyeing acid-modified fibers, having the formula ##STR1## where R.sup.5 is hydrogen, methyl or ethyl; R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 are each methyl, ethyl, .beta.-hydroxyethyl, .beta.-hydroxypropyl or benzyl; A.sup.- is an anion; m is 2 or 3 and n is 0.1 to 1 based on statistical averages.

Abstract: Novel compounds of the general formula I ##STR1## where A.sup..crclbar. is an anion, R is hydrogen or unsubstituted or substituted alkyl or cycloalkyl, R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 independently of one another are each hydrogen or unsubstituted or substituted alkyl or cycloalkyl, or one of the radicals may furthermore be aryl, or R.sup.1 and R.sup.2, together with the nitrogen atom, form a saturated heterocyclic structure, the radicals R.sup.3 independently of one another are each hydrogen or C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkyl, R.sup.4 and R.sup.5 independently of one another are each unsubstituted or substituted alkyl or cycloalkyl, or one of the radicals may furthermore be hydrogen, aryl or hetaryl, R.sup.4 and R.sup.5, together with the nitrogen atom, form a saturated heterocyclic structure, n is 1, 2 or 3, X is hydrogen, chlorine, bromine, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkoxy or nitro and Y is hydrogen or chlorine, are particularly useful for dyeing paper stocks.

Abstract: Fluorans of the formula (I) ##STR1## where R.sup.1 is hydrogen or methyl, R.sup.2 is hydrogen or unsubstituted or substituted alkyl, R.sup.3 is hydrogen, unsubstituted or substituted alkyl, cycloalkyl or unsubstituted or substituted phenyl, or ##STR2## is a 5-membered or 6-membered saturated heterocyclic radical, R.sup.4 and R.sup.5 independently of one another are each hydrogen, alkyl, alkoxy or halogen, R.sup.6 is hydrogen, halogen, alkyl, alkoxy, phenylalkoxy, phenoxy, phenyl or unsubstituted or substituted amino, or is pyrrolidinyl, piperidinyl or morpholinyl, R.sup.7 is hydrogen, alkyl or halogen, R.sup.8 is C.sub.1 -C.sub.5 -alkyl, and the radicals R.sup.4 and R.sup.5 and/or R.sup.6 and R.sup.7 together may furthermore each be a --CH.dbd.CH--CH.dbd.CH-- bridge, and the fused-on benzo ring may be further substituted, are used for the preparation of pressure-sensitive and heat-sensitive recording materials.

Abstract: Triaminotriarylmethane colorants are obtainable by first reacting an aluminum or iron trihalide complex of a 4,4',4"-trihalotriphenylmethyl halide with a metanilic acid, a sulfanilic acid or a .beta.-naphthylaminesulfonic acid and then reacting the product with one or more anilines to replace the halogen atoms located in the 4-positions.The compounds according to the invention are very useful as pigments, for example in printing inks, or for toning carbon black.
