  • Patent number: 8170290
Abstract: A method for checking an imprint reads an imprint, forms a data code from the imprint, and compares the data code with a predetermined number of check data codes of a stored data set. During a search for the data code in the data set, the method decides whether the data code is to be classified as acceptable or unacceptably faulty.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 25, 2007
Date of Patent: May 1, 2012
    Assignee: Siemens Akteingesellschaft
    Inventors: Ingolf Rauh, Udo Miletzki
  • Publication number: 20100310171
Abstract: A method for analyzing at least one database which contains a multiplicity of reference data items, in particular for determining the quality of the database in which, in the case of a data field which has a multiplicity of objects each having one information item, data elements are determined from the data field and these are checked and confirmed by comparison with the reference data items and comparison results resulting from this are recorded. It is proposed that a legibility degree is determined for at least some of the data elements, and a state of the database is determined automatically on the basis of the legibility degree and the comparison results.

  • Patent number: 7286687
Abstract: In the present invention information is first defined as a complete description of the meaning of the content, in addition to the required layout of the characters, words, delivery addresses or images of the entire delivery surface, which contains the delivery addresses, as sample elements. The images of the sample elements belonging to the defined reference information are then generated with the aid of type libraries for the defined character fonts and languages and said images are then stored, after having been assigned to the reference information, in the form of a pixel representation for the sample. The images of the sample elements that have been generated in the previous step are subsequently varied by means of known image processing algorithms to create at least one statistical variation corresponding to the previously collected, grouped deliveries, according to the defined sample scope.

  • Publication number: 20040117192
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and system for reading address in more than one language of which at least one has a non-Latin lettering. The device comprises, for each provided language, an OCR character recognition unit for reading the characters in the fields with the address blocks, whose reading results are depicted in a language-neutral transliteration representation. The device also comprises an address analysis unit for analyzing the characters read in the OCR character recognition units in which the different address elements are determined and classified using language-related syntax rules. The inventive device additional comprises an address interpretation unit for verifying the identified address element with the aid of an address database containing language-dependent transliteration variants that are different for each entry.

  • Patent number: 6587572
Abstract: The invention pertains to mail distribution information recognition technology, involving video-coding stations. According to the invention, the distribution information is fed into the screen of a video-coding unit by means of a speech input unit comprising a microphone (60), a speech recognition module (70) and, if need be, a key board (50). The input data are compiled to a list covering all possible proposals concerning the recognition of the distribution information, said proposals being assessed according to the plausibility criterion. After removal of the little plausible proposals, the selected ones are displayed.
