  • Patent number: 8475233
Abstract: A device for grinding spinning cots has a rotating grinding roller and a carriage that is linearly movable relative to the grinding roller. A pivot arm is pivotably supported on the carriage and movable between a loading position and a grinding position. A workpiece receptacle is mounted on the pivot arm and adapted to receive a spinning cot to be ground. A feed device is provided that is actuatable in accordance with progression of a grinding process performed on the spinning cot toward a grinding surface of the grinding roller. The pivot arm is moveable by the feed device relative to the carriage. A device is provided that is actuatable independent of the feed device for manual adjustment of the carriage into a desired linear position relative to the grinding roller.

  • Publication number: 20090163341
Abstract: In a method for laying web material within a rectangular area in zigzag lengths in several stacked layers, at least one reversal point of a newly laid layer is placed farther inwardly relative to the rectangular area than a reversal point of the layer positioned directly underneath. The reversal points of the zigzag lengths of one layer are arranged in a common reversal row.

  • Patent number: 7517308
Abstract: A device for laying continuously supplied web material in zigzag lengths has a pendulous arm positioned within a supply path of the web material and a holding-down device pushing down the web material at least in the area of the reversal points of the zigzag length. By arranging the holding-down device on the pendulous arm, a particularly a simple construction of such a laying device is provided.

  • Patent number: 7318254
Abstract: In a sliver conveying and depositing device, the sliver is guided from the carder through a draw frame to a can coiler. A first deflection device mounted on the free end of a pivotable arm is arranged between the last driven roller pair of the draw frame and the can coiler. The sliver is guided across the first deflection device and the arm exerts a counter pressure onto the sliver for maintaining sliver tension. The first deflection device is displaceable for compensating the sliver length between first and second end positions, wherein signal transducers emit a signal when the first or second positions are reached. The speed of the can coiler drive is changed when a signal is received from the signal transducers, wherein a time interval elapsed since the last signal has been received from one of the signal transducers is taken into account for changing the speed.

  • Publication number: 20070042689
Abstract: The device has a rotating grinding surface and a receptacle into which a spinning cot to be ground is inserted. The receptacle is advanced in a direction toward the grinding surface until the spinning cot inserted into the receptacle contacts the grinding surface. A size determination device for determining the size of the spinning cot is provided, wherein the size determination device has distance sensors and a computing unit for deriving the size of the spinning cot. The distance sensors operate with measuring beams that have an orientation such that the measuring beams impinge on an outer peripheral surface of the spinning cot inserted into the receptacle on at least three points that are spaced apart from one another in a circumferential direction of the spinning cot.

  • Patent number: 5829100
Abstract: A sliver can for receiving a sliver has a can body with an open upper end. A spring plate is vertically moveable by a verticle travel stroke in the can body. At least one spring is arranged in the can body biasing the spring plate upwardly into a rest position. The spring plate is downwardly moveable against the force of the at least one spring by the weight force of a sliver received in the can body. A retaining device is connected to the spring plate and acts on the spring plate for preventing a return movement of the spring plate into the rest position over the entire length of the vertical travel stroke. The retaining device includes a locking element for locking the spring plate against the force of the at least one spring.

  • Patent number: 5269115
Abstract: A device for placing a ribbon into a can includes a frame and a rotary head unit connected to the frame. The rotary head unit includes a rotary head with a turntable that is eccentrically positioned relative to a center axis of the can and rests on layers of fiber ribbon already placed in the can. Two calender rollers are connected to a top side of the turntable. The calender rollers each have an axis of rotation that is slanted relative to the horizontal and form between them a slot for transporting and placing the fiber ribbon in continuous loops into the can. A friction disk is fixedly connected to at least one calender roller. The calender rollers and the friction disk are positioned on the same side of the turntable relative to a plane extending through the central axis of the turntable. An annular surface cooperates with the friction disk for driving the calender roller connected to the friction disk.

  • Patent number: 5208946
Abstract: A can coiler with an outlet channel for a sliver is provided, whereby the outlet channel is fastened to a turn table and follows a circular path. Calender rolls for transporting the sliver are arranged before the outlet channel. A stationary sliver cutting device with a cutting element is provided, whereby the cutting element is pivotable, transverse to a longitudinal direction of the sliver, into and away from the circular path of the outlet channel into and away from a transverse groove of the turntable. The cutting element is in the form of a cutting knife with a blade and is supported such that a cutting edge for a cutting process by a pulling cutting action is moved into the circular path whereby the cutting knife, in a cutting position thereof, extends to a radial line of the circular path. The radial line is essentially vertical to the cutting edge. The cutting device ensures a flawless operation, even at high production speeds.
