  • Patent number: 7955658
Abstract: The present disclosure provides a building material composition which is suitable in particular for use as a bitumen-free sealant for sealing structures and contains a polymer dispersion or a corresponding redispersion powder, in particular based preferably on emulsion polymers which are redispersible in an aqueous medium, together with polystyrene particles, hollow ceramic and synthetic microspheres and, if appropriate, at least one binder and, if appropriate, further additives. The sealant according to the invention can in principle be formulated as a 1C or 2C application system. In addition to excellent sealing properties, as can conventionally be achieved only with bitumen-containing sealants, the bitumen-free building material composition according to the invention shows in particular excellent shrinkage behavior after application.

Inventors: Manfred Grasse, Udo Windhövel, Katharina Lehmkuehler, Caroline Pfefferle
  • Patent number: 6800682
Abstract: A gluing, sealing and coating compound based on a styrene copolymer is characterized in that the styrene copolymer mainly contains styrene and in that it contains an aromatic compound-free polyalkylene oxide and/or its fatty derivative. These non-toxic plastcizers are easily tolerated and increase stickiness, elasticity and stretchability. These compounds are therefore suitable as binders for producing glues, coatings and sealing compounds.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 15, 1997
Date of Patent: October 5, 2004
Assignee: Henkel Kommanditgesellschaft auf Aktien (Henkel KGaA)
Inventors: Udo Windhoevel, Hartmut Urbath, Helmuth Loth, Wolfgang Klauck, Johann Klein, Kai Boege
  • Patent number: 6726798
Abstract: The invention relates to polystyrene binders modified by fatty compounds. The fatty compounds used are, in particular, esters of fatty acids or fatty alcohols, more especially triglycerides of higher fatty acids, preferably natural fats and oils. They may be added to the binder in high concentrations without adversely affecting the properties of the binder. However, their addition is of advantage in regard to the wetting properties, resistance to water and, above all, hardness. Dispersion adhesives, hotmelt adhesives and sealing compounds in particular can be improved with the binders according to the invention.
