  • Publication number: 20240061491
Abstract: Methods and systems are disclosed for detecting whether a wearable device is being worn by a user. The system transmits a radio signal from a first communication device of a wearable device to a second communication device of the wearable device and measures a signal strength associated with the radio signal received by the second communication device. The system compares the signal strength to a threshold value and generates an indication of a wear status associated with the wearable device based on comparing the signal strength to the threshold value.

  • Patent number: 11899283
Abstract: Eyewear including a see-through display including an optical waveguide module and one or more integrated antennas. In one example, the antenna is disposed on one of the non-active waveguide substrates, which non-active waveguide substrates are used as encapsulants to protect the waveguide active layer from environmental factors and do not have an active optical function in the waveguide operation. In another example, the antenna is disposed on one of the active waveguide substrate surfaces opposite another active waveguide substrate. As a result, there is a large lee-way available in patterning desired antenna shapes, length, and area on these surfaces using optically transparent, high conductivity materials. The antenna is not subject to some design constraints and compromises.

  • Publication number: 20230301045
Abstract: A shield can for an electronic eyewear device is described that reduces RF signals emanating from the electronic eyewear device. The shield can is attached to a ground plate of the electronic eyewear device using leaf springs on a side of the shield can. The leaf springs do not add to the stack-up thickness of the shield can assembly and provide a balanced force against the ground plate. The shield can is attached to a printed circuit board and encompasses radio frequency (RF) electronic components to prevent RF signals emanating from the RF electronic components. The leaf springs have a pair of fingers providing the balanced mechanical point force. A conductive pressure sensitive adhesive is also provided to secure a top surface of the shield can to the ground plate along with a thermal paste.
