  • Patent number: 5549582
Abstract: A coupling for selectively connecting a plurality of conduits running to a common connection point, for controlling flows for medical purposes, includes a coupling element having one or more passages which, by rotation and/or displacement of the coupling element, are connectable to selected conduits for selective connection of the selected conduits at the same time as other conduits running to the connection point are closed by the coupling element so as to determine a flow path. The coupling element may be formed by a cannula, or alternatively may be formed by a coupling cone or element maneuverable by a cannula. In a restriction device for a conduit for carrying a fluid, especially for medical purposes, a first tube is connected to a channel extended through an elastic body. The body is surrounded by a stiff sleeve.

  • Patent number: 4922926
Abstract: An arrangement for delivering medications in an implantable medical device, such as a heart pacemaker, has at least two containers or receptacles for the medication disposed below the surface of a portion of the implanted device, each container terminating in an opening having the size of a pore in the surface of the implanted device to permit the medication to be delivered from the container to surrounding tissue. The structure permits the medication to be delivered at specific regions of tissue, and in a manner which permits control of the medication dose.

  • Patent number: 4840186
Abstract: An implantable lead has conductors wound in a multi-pole helix. The conductors are individually insulated by a first insulating material and the insulated conductors are embedded in, and axially separated from each other by a second tube-formed insulating material. The inner opening of the tube receives a helically wound stylet guide coil which may also be a multi-pole conductor arrangement. The conductors may be helically wound, multi-filament wires. Preferably, all helically wound arrangements in the lead are wound in the same direction so that the lead is still when rotating it in one direction and flexible when rotating it the other way.
