  • Patent number: 9874493
Abstract: An improved method and apparatus for creating a representation of transferred torque (?tr) over a rotation angle interval (?) for a torque transferring system wherein the torque transferring system includes at least two meshing gears, a torque meter for monitoring the transferred torque (?tr) in the torque transferring device, and an angular meter arranged to monitor an angular position (?) of at least one of the meshing gears over at least one angular interval (?int). Further, the system includes a processor that is adapted to: map the transferred torque (?tr) to the monitored angular interval (?int) and create a representation of the transferred torque (?tr) over said angular interval (?int), analyze said representation in order to identify deviations from an expected representation, and based on said analysis determining a gear condition of at least one of the at least two meshing gears in the torque transferring device.

  • Patent number: 9186784
Abstract: A power wrench with a torque sensing unit includes a housing, a motor, an output shaft, and a planetary reduction gearing connecting the motor to the output shaft and including a stationary ring gear supported in the housing, wherein the torque sensing unit includes a torque transferring element with a single radially extending reaction arm arranged to transfer reaction torque from the ring gear to the housing and carrying strain measuring sensors for generating signals in response to the transferred reaction torque. The torque transferring element includes an annular body with two weak portions to be elastically deformed during torque transfer and having flat surfaces for carrying the strain measuring sensors.

  • Publication number: 20100229691
Abstract: A power wrench includes a housing divided into two parts which are rotatable relative to each other: a first part including a handle and a transverse section lodging a rotation motor, and a second part including a reduction gearing, an output shaft and a rigidly attached and laterally extending reaction bar. A swivel connection is provided between the housing parts and includes an angle sensor arranged to generate signals in response to relative angular movements between the housing parts, and a power control unit communicates with the angle sensor and is arranged to at least substantially reduce the motor power as a pre-set maximum angular movement between. the housing parts is exceeded as the motor is started.

  • Patent number: 6821157
Abstract: A portable tool is connected to a remotely located operation controlling and/or monitoring control it via a multi-core cable. The multi-core cable is connected to the tool by a standard type multi-connector plug and jack connection to supply electric power and/or electric signals between the tool and the control unit. At least one signal producing element is provided on an upgrading module. The upgrading module is insertable between the tool and the multi-core cable via mating multi-connector plug and jack connections, and forms a readily exchangeable adapter. The upgrading module is individually designed to meet the demands of a particular operator, thereby adapting a standard type portable tool to a certain application without involving any re-building of the tool.
